Analysis

We used DisplayMate to conduct a variety of tests ranging from Geometric Pattern tests to the Color Reproduction test (and everything in between).

The Dell E228WFP cleared the screen geometry and distortion, sharpness and resolution, and screen pixel resolution test easily.

The monitor delivers sharp pictures and great color reproduction without any bleeding of colors. The brightness levels are good, but there are issues with the contrast. The contrast flattens colors more at the top-left corner and towards the brighter end of the scale. As with most LCD monitors, this one too demonstrates a negligible amount of mismatch with the red and green bands in the Horizontal Color Registration test.

And thanks to its 5ms response time, there was no ghosting in games or movies as well.

Overall, the Dell E228WFP is a great monitor for average users who would want to use it to see movies, play games; just anything else but professional image or movie editing.
