Double performance GPUs for laptops, with battery consumption reduction technology coming up!
NVIDIA has been shouting out loud about their DX10 desktop GPUs for quite sometime. Now the focus shifts to laptops with Santa Rosa making the waves in past few weeks. NVIDIA brings us 8M, the first DX10 laptop GPU with H.264 full HD movies. There are two variants of the 8M: GeForce 8600M and 8400M.
The company claims that these chips double the performance when compared to previous generation of GPUs for laptops. These chips also boast of PureVideo HD processing engine for video and PowerMizer Technology to reduce battery consumption in idol mode. The chips have already been distributed to laptop manufacturers and soon we will see a range of laptops featuring these new GPUs. So until then, we just play the waiting game.
