Star Partners with Mobile Operators

Star Mobile Entertainment's soon to be launched mobile application, 'PLUS,' will be available nationally in association with Hutch, BSNL, Idea, BPL, Spice, and MTNL.
The company said that with its tie-up with multiple mobile operators, 'PLUS' will now be available to users across the country.
The 'PLUS' application will be a free download, and the service will come with a Rs 30 per month subscription charge, though initially, subscribers will be offered a free one-month trial.
Users can download this application via a General Packed Radio Service (GPRS) connection, or Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). And currently, the application is compatible with nearly 220 different handsets.
According to Star, 'PLUS' provides the largest repertoire of downloadable content in India. The subscription pack enables the mobile user to enjoy downloads of unlimited video clips from TV, movies, and music, and provides the latest news and updates from Sports and entertainment. These include over 200 TV video clips per month.
Viren Popli, Senior Vice President of Star Mobile Entertainment, said, "Mobiles have become multi-media devices but their current usage in India is limited. Many consumers today have a high-end mobile phone and want to do more with their multimedia devices, seeking entertainment and information on the go. This is the rapidly growing niche we are confident 'PLUS' can exploit."
According to the company, 'PLUS' also provides a high quality standard of video and audio to ensure the best mobile multimedia experience available. Besides, users can even preview content before downloading it, a feature that is not available through any other mobile application.
Meanwhile, at launch, 'PLUS' subscribers will have access to various privileges from the service's partners, including 50 percent off on all air tickets booked through MakeMyTrip.com, 50 percent off on all hotels booked though TravelGuru.com, exclusive access to international music concerts, exclusive access to TV shoots, opportunities to star on Channel [V], and much more.
