Bharti Airtel has revealed that it will be launching its first full-fledged IPTV service by end of this year.

The company said it would first introduce Airtel IPTV applications on its broadband fixed line telecom services at Gurgaon in Haryana.

For this, the company is already conducting trials in around 100 households in the city of Gurgaon.

The launch in Gurgaon city would be followed by launch in the entire National Capital Region (NCR) by the end of the current financial year.

Atul Bindal, President of Broadband and Telephone Services, Airtel, said they are developing partnerships with several companies for content and technology. And everything will be in place by the end of this year.

Bindal further said that nothing has been finalized yet as far as the all-India launch is concerned. Bharti is working on content creation in three areas, including education and learning, entertainment and work, and operation-related issues. They are working with several partners to generate the right kind of content for customers.

IPTV is a technology that transmits digital television content on Internet protocol using a network infrastructure. Two public sector telecom companies, MTNL and BSNL, have already started IPTV delivery in the country using a broadband connection. Private operators like Reliance Infocom will soon start providing this service.

I'm an Airtel gsm subcriber for last 11 years. Very happy with the service & also using Airtel landline, but I'm trying hard to get a DSL, I don't know what happens to IPTV.

I am using Airtel's IPTV, its simply superb and 100 times better than the local Cable TV guy who gives worst signal that breaks every now and then. The service support of Airtel is also outstanding as the support will reach you in less than 2 hours though you rarely need them. I simply hope that Airtel keeps the prices low when they commercially launch the IPTV service.

Airtel is easily the best Broadband connection for gaming from Chennai. Its costly, that I agree. But only Airtel gives superb upload speeds & without it, gamers will have to go bump on a tree..

I think airtel should shut down its business and do something else, LIke say meditation. The n/w is bad. My phones airtel to airtel get disconnected even if there is full network shown. there are many, I don't have space here to write. And they charge such a huge amount for the stupid facility they provide
