Oneindia.in's bouquet of regional language channels in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malyalam has completed 7 years since launch.
Oneindia.in's existing bouquet of regional language channels:
ThatsTamil.com, ThatsKannada.com, ThatsTelugu.com, and ThatsMalayalam.com; has completed 7 years operations since launch.
Oneindia.in entered this space as early as 1993 with Mahesh.com, which soon became a popular portal for NRIs. The network offers localized content in all 4 South Indian languages - Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malyalam, and caters to regional audiences with as-it-happens news, entertainment & sports updates, lifestyle tips, picture galleries, etc.
ThatsTamil.com has been moved to Unicode font, with plans to shift the Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam portals as well to Unicode in the coming months.
Speaking on the occasion, B G Mahesh, CEO of Greynium Information, said that as 2007 has been declared the 'Year of Broadband' in India, they are excited to see the growth of Indian language readers in the country. He added that even more exciting is the fact that more and more resident Indians are reading their content.
With a proposed target of reaching 200 million users by 2010, the need of the hour for Internet in India is to cater to the ever growing demand for quality content in local languages.
