In India, It costs around Rs17000/-with 512 MBmemory card. I bought same cam from US it costs ulmost 50% i.e.Rs 8500/-

15mb is the camera internal memory....most cams have it in similair range...ofcourse u can always and for that instance u'll have to buy a mem card.

170 shots on a single battery that to only fair amount of flash usage nope this is baad. My cannon gives me around 700 dhots with 2 aa cells which are very easy to replace and a good amount of flash and reviewing usage. who will buy such camera? this is more of a toy than a camera.a

did you bother to chk the battery rating for both the cameras i.e your canon and the NV3. the NV3 uses a 860mAH battery and you could be using a 2600mAH or a 24mAH rechargable AA batteries.
