The multifunction device era has arrived. In a way, it's a revolution. Individual gadgets are maturing to be of much more value than its original simple purpose. Mobile phones have become music players, digicams, personal diaries and much more; computers are not merely productivity devices, but complete media centres with the infotainment quotient; and these are just two examples of the varied functions a single device can perform. A similar revolution has already begun for digital cameras. Samsung has launched a whole range of digital cameras that not only shoots pictures, but can also read text files, play music and videos and yes, as well. We reviewed a similar camera some time back, the Samsung Digimax i6.

We have with us today a member of the NV-series of Samsung cameras, the NV3. Lets see how it sounds..reads? err..clicks! Just read on.

The Camera

More than a camera, the Samsung NV3 resembles a sculpture or a work of art. It's an ultra compact design metal case with a matte black paint and brushed metal finish sporting a 7.0 Megapixel sensor, 3x Optical zoom, 5x Digital zoom, a PMP player and a text file reader. The NV3 also has digital camcorder functionality with MPEG-4 TVD (720x480) 20fps &; VGA (640x480) 30fps with Auto Gain Control (AGC) technology to minimize zoom noise during video recording. Did I tell you all these features come packed in a metal body measuring 94.5 x 57 x 17.5 mm? It's a true ultra compact camera indeed.

Enclosed in the camera body (on either side) are two stereo speakers that look more like design elements or multiple shutter release buttons. More on that later.
