    It's official... Sony's PlayStation 3 gaming console will be available in India April 27th onwards. It will come with a range of titles from leading publishers.

It's official... the Sony PlayStation 3 will be available in the country April 27th onwards...

The company says the India launch is part of its release across PAL (video game publication) territories, including the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Australasia.

PS3, a Gen-Next gaming console, can well be considered an advanced computer system that allows enjoyment of next generation content through a combination of cell and RSX processors, a wireless controller, and a Blu-ray video disc. Besides, a vast catalogue of PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games can be played on the PS3.

The PS3 comes equipped with a high-definition display, and gives users free access to the online PlayStation network, where they can communicate and compete with other gamers. The console comes standard with Giga-bit Ethernet and a pre-installed hard disk drive (HDD), enabling users download a variety of content, plus access online games/services over the network.

The PS3 will cost Rs 39,990 in India, according to Sony.

The console will ship with a range of titles from leading publishers including Electronic Arts, Namco Bandai, and Sony Online Entertainment.

There will be pack of 12 titles such as: Resistance: Fall of Man, MotorStorm, Genji, Days of the Blade, Formula 1: Championship Edition, and Ridge Racer7.

Other titles include: Def Jam: Icon, Fight Night Round 3, NBA Street HomeCourt, Need for Speed Carbon, The Godfather: The Don's Edition, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2007, and Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom.

All games will carry a price tag of Rs 2,799 each.

Hi, I have purchased PS3 in Singapore and I am unable to play my PS2 DVD's - Error "Region Restriction"... Buy the time I purchased the PS3, I was Promised by the Sony dealer that I can play the PS3 in India with PS2 DVD's. now I am unable to play.. This is what i get when I Trust SONY.. Any ways I ain't blaming you, but right now, i need to keep my PS3 Console on a Show case.......... If Possible, plz do help me

Mr. Chairman, I am a boy living in india & studying in 9th class. On my Birthday I have decidided to buy a PS3. It may shock you but each and every person says, the cost is tooo high to be released. I request you to please decrease the prise of PS3 otherwise it would not be sold in good quantity in India. And it may cause you a loss.

Im still loving my Ps2 .. May be wait for another year for the prices to go down and the console to shrink before I go for a ps3 ..may be if xbox comes up with more niceties I'll buy a Xbox ..but for the moment Ps2 rules .hheheee

I wud rather buy a xbox elite. n will eventually mod it after its warranty is due. i hav no probs wid the price...... its just that.... it does not have games like halo, gears of war, blue draon, lost odeyssey, mass effect, lost planet, bioshock, viva pinata etc..... even the ps3's exclusive games have gone multiplatform....... DMC4 etc ... Blueray Anyone ????

Its difficult to understand how PS3 is going to succeed in India especially since it is finding it hard to succeed in markets of Europe and US.Priced reasonably well as compared to Xbox 360 premium though.

why will people buy rs 40,000 ps3 when xbox 360 moded is available in grey market for rs 25,000.the games of ps3 cost rs 3000 but xbox 360 modded pirated games can be easily bought for 150 rupees yes 150 rupees.

40K????!!!! and which one is it? 20GB one or the 60GB one??? too expensive!!! boy i feel like all other complainers. will it cost less if i import it from singapore because they sell it cheaper there? and change the pic! sushant, i think the 'mod' thing might not work because you'll have to keep udating your system with firmware...

No worries dude. XBOX 360 now comes modded, without even changing the frimware. There can be similar things with PS3 as well, just a matter of time. If the mod thing will not work, PS3 will be a complete failure..indian players are not fool enough to pay 2800 fro max 20 hours of game play. 360 rocks, its cheaper and comes modded. Sony will have to wither strip of some of the funtionality so that it may sel the consoles cheaper or have to cut down the profits by loweringthe prices.....they cant go on with this kind of silly pricing.....

NO GOOD ! Even if it is launched. It will fail dramatically. 40000 for a console ? Agreed that its good, but not worth its asking for. Will wait till it gets modded. Cant pay 2800 for a single disc.
