    Reports are doing the rounds that Microsoft's Xbox 360 console will soon be available in Black color, along with hardware upgrades.

Reports are doing the rounds that Microsoft's Xbox 360 console will soon be available in Black color, along with hardware upgrades.

The Black Xbox 360, to be called 'Xbox 360 Elite', will likely have HDMI support and a higher capacity hard disk drive (HDD) of 120GB.

Also, the Black version will run cooler than existing Xbox 360 models, however there is no confirmation yet whether it will feature 65nm chips.

Earlier this year, rumors of hardware upgrades of Xbox 360 started floating after photos of a prototype console with HDMI output and revised scaling chip appeared on the Internet.

Moreover, the current HD DVD add-on will continue to remain an additional accessory. According to an earlier statement from Microsoft, Xbox 360 will never include an internal HD DVD drive. As such, the Black Xbox 360 will come with standard 12x DVD-ROM drive.

The Black Xbox 360 is expected to launch in the next few months along with matching Black accessories for approximately $479 (Rs 20,838). And, it seems that those who already own Xbox 360 might be able to purchase the larger HDD separately for under $200 (Rs 8,700 approx).

Hopefully this Xbox360 will work much better than the current one. It feels as though Microsoft/Xbox has had my son's Xbox360 in their possession more than he has had it. First break down - less than 48 hours after opening Xmas of 2005. I sent it back for a second time (same problem, three red lights) in early January 2007 and they are so back logged and understaffed they can't even give me any idea of where it is or when we will get it back. Not a fan of Xbox360 at this time. Very frustrated with the lack of tech staff and excuses we hear from the excellent customer service reps. Can't blame them - they ARE doing their jobs - well! Following up every week or so. So here is to hoping that Microsoft will reward the patient individuals [who purchased what appears to be defective Xbox 360's - which I assume were RUSHED onto the market for Xmas 2005] with their NEW AND IMPROVED. Here's to hoping they will do something for their consumers.

Why didn't you just bring it back to the store they replace it on the spot.also make sure its not in a inclosed space.That seems to be the case every time you haft to put it were the back has no inclosure also the front I would find a place were the heat doesn't continue to circle through the system

You do realize that with all their TECHNOLOGY, the XBOX 360 is better than the premium PS3, sans Blu-Ray, and costs a cool $130 less. So if you mean saving hundreds and getting a superior machine by "throwing money away," you are absolutely right. Buying an XBOX 360 is throwing money away.

i have all the new gaming systems, ps3 is a POS!!! 360 is a much better system, not to mention alot better games.(so far) ill give sony that. but right now 360 is best system on the market in my opinion. took me 3 days to find out how to rip a cd onto my ps3 (couldnt find it in the owners manual not saying it isnt there just couldnt find it) 360 theres a BIG button that says "rip cd" cant miss it. also aside from being a pain to navigate its exreemly slow on load times and i have to reset it after every game cus the optical audio output is messed up IT HAS BUGGS TO!!! go figure and on a personal side note nintendo wii has potential to be the funest system of them all i really like it just needs more games the few good games it does have are awsome but short (except for zelda man looong game) but buying a 360 over a ps3 is by no means a waste of money i wish i hadnt bought my ps3 its just a really expencive dvd player at the moment

They just want products that appeal to more people. Nothing wrong with that! MS logic is probably that this will sell units to people who didn't buy a 360 before because of lack of HDMI, or because they just weren't intrigued enough. If anybody who already owns Xbox 360 goes out and buys this marginally improved one, he deserves to have his blood sucked, because he is a dumb fanboy.

Ah, so MS is $ hungry because it's putting out an improved model of its system? What's that make Nintendo, which puts out new colors of it's DS and Gameboy, on a regular basis - introducing it as "New and Improved?" How about the PS2 slim? No hardware improvements, and a smaller box. Obviously, these were ok, because MS didn't do it. At least MS is putting out tangible improvements that people would want, instead of relying on just coloring or sizing a game differently, and selling it for the same price.

Gee Scotty, i seem to recall that the slim PS2 had upgraded the drive to progressive scan for a better quality image over the standard ps2. Not to mention the now built in network ports. Hmmm... seems that it wasn't just about color or size for sony.

XBOX 360 is by far the best system out there and is way better than the ps3.I don't mind the upgrade because I would never need that much memory,however if I did I'm sure I would get a discount on a hard drive. To all you ps3 fans I love that the system is falling short of sales and also all of the problems,thought thats why it took another year to fix the problems,didn't work.lets not forget that all of your top games are coming over to 360 one by one,like devil may cry ,gta,guitar hero , never had a problem with my xbox 360 it's the people that don't understand that it can not be inclosed, it needs to breath.Even if it did break, I went with my buddy and they gave him a new 360 on the spot no questions asked,and when I went back to his house he tried to put it right back into a inclosed area. So to all you ps3 fans it's over for you go buy the future of gaming( xbox 360) and make sure to check out the awsome capibility of the online experience.

Kumara, Are you for real buddy? You must be the first person I ever heard of that: 1. Thinks the PS is made by microsoft 2. Believes the follwing is a coherent statement: " all the way back from the first playstation, that was in the catagory like the rest of the consoles. " gramatically or contextually in an article on the xbox. 3. Needs a reliable xbox for work and furthermore requires on all systems with no malfunction. :) You might try not scratching your copy of Halo 2.

no matter how many inventions that microsoft invents. all the way back from the first playstation, that was in the catagory like the rest of the consoles. only now microsoft is comming up with all sorts of souloutions for faster and more relieable chips which has increse and more powerfull chips for mathmatical calculations. seems to me like, what ever station you work on from microsoft, seems to crack or crash......it just isnt worth it for us to invest in such machines, we've had the problems before, and the problems still persist. doesnt matter how much you invent, that the operating systemes need be updated every year, seems to be joke. no body could finish a project in just one year. then have to learn a whole new operating system......we need platforms for work, that are relieable on all systems, no malfunction. time is money, and we dont have any time.......
