Guitar Hero



A console game that is music to everyone's ears, a game that made everyone a world famous guitarist. You gain points for playing music and the better you play that much better is your chance of winning. The concept was great and it worked really well as people got hooked on to it. What's better than a game that plays great music as you play, keeps you engaged and offers a chance to become a rockstar.


Brothers in Arms



One of the most realistic WWII games ever, with the ability to control your squad and lead them to victory. The game was very well received and the concept made people realize what it meant to control a squad in WWII. With smart AI and a great graphic engine, the game was as realistic as war itself. A welcome change from your regular WWII games as it actually focused on the war aspect rather than mindless killing of enemy soldiers.

This was a list of games that I felt were innovative, I will be writing a sequel to this feature; your input will be a great help. Please let me know what games you would like to see on the list in the next feature.

Yo, U left out warcraft III. It's storyline was very innovative with a demon inside the hero. The Prince of Persia - Two Thrones and the movie, Spiderman are copycat of this concept. Rule #1, Warcraft must be mentioned in all the lists of games(except the list of worst games).

Dear Mr. Venugopalan the concept of spiderman being possessed by an alien entity is older than 3d pc games. He was first designed in 1988. Stan Lee does not really need to copy from a game story.

i guess as far as innovation is concerned then Prince of Persia triology should not be missed... and i dont think Brothers in arms and Burnout are so special.. they are good, burnout is different but then if difference is what we look at then trackmania Sunrise gives a completely different and exciting experience.....

Gandhigiri is all bookish and filmish. There is no game which is build on Non-violence fundas. Games could have been educative, innovative. Who cares? Games are made where the money is

What the Hell!! Every game comes with ESRB (rating) which clearly says what games a kid should be playing and what not!! If you really care aabout your children getting violent then don't buy them games. There are always alernative like Board Game, Chess, Carrom, Cricket, Football (Which they should be actually playing) Games are made to entertain and relax people. Give the much need break from their daily busy schedule. Everybody loves to be a Hero! And games where one gets to save the world. !! :)) So if you are not interested in savin' the world, go out, walk in the park, sit on the bench, enjoy the nature! And don't forget to take your kids with u!

It's just begining of Matrix, We want to be Heros in Virtual worlds. We want more constraints then what we have in life. We want to play game in the game of life. We are not satisfied with our existence, we want to play more roles. Infact we want to be what we are not. In the game we want to do nasty things which we cannot in real because of society (reference GTA). We are begining to build intellegence to satisfy ourseves. One day this intelligence will overtake us.

well Deepak, ur comment express more about ur failure to control "next generation" rather then "dirty" effect of gaming. Accepted that u kill ppl in game...but then...in 99% games, u kill bad people to save ur near and dear ones...or in war games, u kill enemy soldiers to save ur country...wat is harm in that? Atleast this dirtyness is better then the dirt filled in a childs brain by watching porn, T.V(full of adult contents), hindi films(not less then porno)....I believe its the character and temperament of parents which will decide the fate of "next generation"...please dont through others shit on gaming.

Good collection. I wuld like to add company of heroes,blade of darkness(one of the most amazing RPG in its time), max payne,rainbow 6,F.E.A.R.(excellent graphics and gameplay)

:O Blade of Darkness!!!?????? That game was a horrible experience! I would rather take Diablo 1 and 2 as the greatest RPG of earlier days! Jagged Alliance 2 also deserves to be mentioned here! This game makes you forget even todays so called Innovative games!! :))
