Lets Make a Commercial Film Online!

LetsFilm.com can be called a social networking Web site with a purpose.
The Web site has just launched a project to bring together scores of film enthusiasts to create the world's first commercial film.
According to Co-founders, Hinesh Jethwani and Pritesh Jethwani, for the first time, talent from across the globe will converge online to make the first ever 'complete mainstream film' that LetsFilm intends playing at a cinema theater near you.
The brainchild of Hinesh Jethwani, Founder and Head, LetsFilm, the film script has already taken form as 'The Bomb Within', a story about a new biochemical weapon, about Post 9/11 and global terrorism, something that probably each and every person can relate to.
The synopsis is posted on LetsFilm, and its from here that budding scriptwriters from around the world are invited to take over and carry forward the mantle, seeing the script to its fruition - ready to be made into a complete, commercial, saleable film.
A Wiki has been set up to enable several scriptwriters work on the script simultaneously, and the Founders say the project is truly open source, wherein anyone could end up a potential scriptwriter for LetsFilm.
While the quality of writing, and its potential to be seen in sync with what is visualized for the film would be ultimate clinchers for any up and coming scriptwriter, a filtering mechanism will be necessary at a later stage.
Speaking about the initiative, Hinesh Jethwani, said, "Through this unique community Web site, we plan to bring talented individuals together, who are passionate about movies and have a willingness to share and learn from one another. This would be the first time that anyone in the world has attempted to make a complete commercial film that will be starred, written, produced, directed, edited and distributed, by a team of people simply passionate about movies, collaborating from all over the world."
Nearly 647 members are officially registered with LetsFilm.com, but not all of them are in it for script writing.
The site offers networking opportunities as well - with its forums and blogs, instant messaging facility, et al.
Says Hinesh Jethwani, "Registration on LetsFilm.com is absolutely free for life. Members of LetsFilm can chat/IM/email each other that makes it a true collaborative platform for them to expand their horizons."
Morever, Hinesh believes that in a world where user generated content is flourishing, it is about time a completely user generated movie is played at the nearest cinema hall.
In that sense, the Founders of LetsFilm feel their new fangled attempt is an innovative take on user generated content. And, some day, they hope to challenge the existing, run-of-the-mill kind of filmmaking with this all new concept.
LetsFilm.com is also inviting up and coming actors, directors, editors, producers, and technicians to create their own profiles on the site by way of audios/voiceovers, videos/demo reels, photos/portfolios, and resumes.
An online rating system, comprising members and visitors, will decide on favorites. Besides, a jury is in the process of being set up - to go through all the profiles and select people for key roles in the making of the film. Meanwhile, a developer has been appointed to scan for objectionable content.
