Trend Micro has announced the latest versions of its messaging security products, InterScan messaging security suite and InterScan messaging security appliance, and also a new hosted service for enterprise customers, InterScan messaging hosted security.
InterScan Messaging Security solutions are integral to the Trend Micro Enterprise protection strategy, providing organizations comprehensive gateway email security and integrate anti-spam and anti-phishing with antivirus and anti-spyware. They include two patent-pending technologies; customer-specific reputation services, and image spam detection.
Additionally, predictive techniques such as zero-day protection, advanced heuristics, and behavior analysis block targeted attacks. They also promise flexible content filtering to help enforce compliance and prevent data leakage. With a highly scalable platform and centralized management for easy administration, the solutions block standalone, blended-threat, and targeted attacks at the gateway.
Max Cheng, General Manager - Enterprise Business Operations, Trend Micro, said, "With the latest release of our InterScan Messaging Security solutions, Trend Micro is providing its best-of-breed email security in software, appliance, and hosted service."
According to Trend Micro, unlike other vendor solutions, the InterScan Messaging Security solutions include three distinct anti-spam techniques such as network reputation services, IP Profiler, and anti-spam composite engine. The first two techniques stop most threats at the connection layer before they even reach the gateway, securing the network and preserving bandwidth, storage, and other resources, while the anti-spam composite engine catches remaining threats before they reach the inbox.
The company said that network reputation services provide the initial line of defense by blocking emails from known spam sources. They verify IP addresses of incoming email against the world's largest reputation database, and apply a dynamic reputation service to identify new spam and phishing sources, including zombies and botnets - as they first emerge.
IP Profiler prevents threats from entering the network with customer-specific reputation services and a firewall to block directory harvest attacks and bounced mail attacks.
Anti-spam composite engine provides the final level of protection, filtering spam and phishing emails at the gateway through a combination of anti-spam technologies, including image spam detection. The anti-spam engine also applies embedded URL reputation to block emails with links to malicious Web sites.
Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security Suite will be available in Q2 2007 at a suggested retail price of $15.88 (Rs 702) per user for 2001 users.
