Yesterday at 9am Pacific time, Nintendo added three more illustrious titles to its Wii Shop Channel. They are: Super Mario World, Gain Ground (Sega Genesis Edition), and Vigilante (TurboGrafx-16).
Super Mario World (800 Wii Points, 1-2 players) sees Mario and Luigi chance upon Yoshi, the good dinosaur. With Princess Toadstool kidnapped by Bowser, the evil dinosaur, how the awesome threesome find their way to Bowser's seven castles, to set free all the other Yoshis who are trapped in magical eggs, forms the crux of game play. Gamers get to ride Yoshi and swallow enemies, and discover things like a feather that turns into a cape for Mario to fly, a flower that shoots layer on layer of fireballs, et al.
Gain Ground (800 Wii Points, 1-2 players) begins as an utopia set in the 31st century. The human race is approaching perfection: there is no war, no poverty, no conflict; but the flip side is, it has lost its survival instincts. As a solution to the problem, the United Earth Government creates Gain Ground, a war simulator to help humans win back their lost instincts. However, the plan backfires, and the creators of Gain Ground end up prisoners of their own creation. Its up to the gamers then to freed the human race from this monster of a system.
Vigilante (600 Wii Points, 1 Player) places the gamer in the rather uncomfortable shoes of one New Yorker, bent on avenging the kidnapping of his girlfriend, Madonna. The gamer gets to use a 'nunchaku', punch, and kick his/her way through backstreets, junkyards, and the Brooklyn Bridge, even as the thugs attack with whatever they come across; iron pipes, chains, guns, the works.
All Wii users with a Broadband Internet connection can redeem their Wii points, and download these new games.
