U21 Global has announced their new course named 'Master of Management in Information Technology (MMIT)'. The program is specially designed for professionals taking on management and leadership roles within the information, communications, and technology domain.

The MMIT programme is ideally suited for those in roles such as business analysts, solution architects, project managers, IT managers, consultants, and IT directors - for whom the development of technology management skills, rather than pure technical skills, is essential.

Shrikant Sinha, Director, Recruitment - South Indian, said, "We started this program in December 2006, and have received very encouraging response so far. This course was primarily named 'Masters in Information Systems Management (MISM)' but we felt that the curriculum was not serving the purpose of the targeted sector completely. Thus the syllabus has been revamped and re-worked on and the course has been re-launched as MMIT, aimed at creating the rightly equipped and conversant talent pool in various verticals of the IT industry."

The curriculum consists of various subjects such as Project Management, Technology Architecture, Solutions Development, Strategic Improvement, eServices, IT Governance, and Organisational Change. The curriculum is jointly developed with the National University of Singapore. Students can select the competency clusters they are interested in, or even select individual subjects from any of the competency clusters. Electives are subject to change, and may not always be available.

The student must complete 12 subjects to earn the MMIT degree. The unique and flexible curriculum is organised into eight competency clusters, which enables you as a student to select and develop competencies based on your needs, interests, and aspirations.

According to university sources, all applicants will be considered on their individual merit. Some of the criteria for selections are a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university, and two or more years' relevant IT work experience; or a Bachelor's degree with first class honors from a recognised university in a technical field of study, such as Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.

IELTS (International English Language Testing Service) score of 6.5 with an individual writing score of at least 6.0; or TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 550 (213 for computer-based test) with a TWE (Test of Written English) score of at least 5.0; or BULATS (Business Language Testing Service) at level 4. Students may submit a GMAT score to support their application.

"The selection criteria is kept simple, so that maximum number of interested people can join in for the course. The candidate needs to be a graduate and have a two years' work experience in the field. However, a B Tech or equivalent technical degree graduate need not have two years' work experience. We are focusing on working professionals as the course is aimed at enhancing the working capabilities of a professional."

Applicants without a Bachelor's degree may be considered for admission into the Executive Certificate or Executive Diploma programs if they have a minimum of eight years relevant IT work experience, as an entry path into the MMIT.
