Epson has announced the launch of their Professional Photo Viewers EPSON P-3000 and P-5000 in India. Claimed to be the only dedicated portable photo viewers currently available in the market, the pair supposedly succeeds the acclaimed EPSON P-2000.

Photo viewers help professional photographers to review their photo shoot on location without a PC. Apart from improved performance and basic product updates, the two new photo viewers boast several significant new features and improvements.

According to the company sources, the EPSON P-3000 and P-5000 are the first products in the world to feature a revolutionary 4 Color Filter LCD. In place of the traditional RGB color filters (Red, Green, and Blue) the new photo viewers possess four colors Red, Blue, Yellow Green, and Emerald Green. What this means for users is a wider color gamut of up to 88% of Adobe RGB Color Space which results in clear, razor-sharp image quality.

They come with a 24-bit full color for smooth gradation and a198 pixel per inch (ppi) for precise details. Plus, the generous 4" proprietary EPSON Photo Fine Ultra LCD screen is now brighter to allow users to view images even under direct sunlight. The clarity on the LCD also provides support for up to 88% of Adobe's RGB color space.

The EPSON P-3000 and P-5000 are claimed to support most RAW format and can provide detail information such as camera settings and histogram. For best images, both photo viewers come loaded with three viewing modes. Choose between viewing 12 images (4 X 3 mode), 64 images (8 X 8 mode), and List (one-by-one mode).

Also new, the EPSON P-3000 and P-5000 have an Image Detection feature. This allows the viewer to categorize and enhance the type of photo currently on display. For photographers on the go, the EPSON P-3000 offers a storage capacity of 40GB (gigabytes), while the EPSON P-5000 offers a larger 80GB storage capacity.

Both new photo viewers come with built-in memory card slots that enable the transfer of images from a variety of commonly used digital storage devices. Supported storage types include CompactFlash Type I and II and Secure Digital memory cards. They can also be connected to an external USB storage and PictBridge device for seamless file transfers.

Reportedly, the EPSON P-3000 and P-5000 also support a wide range of video formats including MPEG 1, 2, and 4, DivX, H.264, Windows Media Player 9, and Motion-JPEG. To optimize viewing pleasure, viewers can select from 'Home Video', 'Cinema' or 'Nature' mode to bring out the best colors and contrast.

The new photo viewers also support MP3 and WMA formats; it also allows listeners to edit playlists, select tracks, and comes with an Equalizer function to tease portable music aficionados.

The photo viewers will be available from February 2007 and have an MRP of Rs.36,000 (EPSON P-3000) and Rs.50,000 (EPSON P-5000).
