I want a world where graphic cards are a myth, soothing to hear about but unreal. A world where one can fulfill ones heart with innovative gaming that accomplishes its primary objective that is to entertain. But these days with everything so commercial, entertainment at an affordable price is a myth, soothing to hear about but unreal.

I browsed the net and found a few games that consist of great gameplay yet run on ancient systems. Take a look.

Little Fighter 2:

LF2 was created by Marti Wong and Starsky Wong in 1999 and released in a long series of updates. Its popularity has been substantial thanks to its simple yet addictive gameplay; it's great replayability and free at the point of use availability.

The game can have up to 4 human players on one computer and 8 characters in network play at one time. Gamemodes include VS mode, Stage mode (where 1 or more players move through the environment killing increasing number and difficulties of enemies), Championship mode and Battle mode(involving mass armies led by a player.)

Download it here.

Albatross18 :

Golf may not have the excitement of football, but still it's a glamorous sport. But add to that some magic and see the wonders of albatross18. Set in the beautiful backdrop of a fantasy world where reality stops and magic abounds, Albatross18: Season Two presents a unique experience to the game of golf - mixing elements of classic golf play with the popularity of fantasy role-playing games.

With an online community and support this is a steal for a free game. You will have to register to play and download this game, but I suggest you do it right away.

Download it here.

Navy Field and rakion cannot be played without a graphics card. They need a graphics card to play with decent FPS. Rakion with "Radeon 9200" can be played only at 640 x 480 and that too with 25 FPS. So forget that you can play this without a gfx card.

Yes i think that u are right now a days the game developers are more concentrating on graphics instead of game playablity and design . Due to which new games take highend systems but still don't satisfy a gamers need. I thing your free games are good examples of good games so plz continue add more collection to it

I have played Half Life, Blood, Blood 2, Heretic, Doom 1 and 2, Unreal tournament, Quake, Quake 2, Commander Keen 4,5,6 Heretic, Raptor, Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Ken's Labryinth, Legend of Kyrandia 1 and 2, Wolfenstein etc on a P1 200Mhz MMX with a PCI VGA card. Had a great time without any AGP or PCI-E gfx card and these were really good games. Newer games are a problem though.

Sorry...not Unreal tournament. I used a different PC but with the same 2mb PCI VGA card.

Dude you have to churn out two or three articles a week and even that you can't write on your own. Not only was most of your Marvel review copy pasted from wikipedia, but even this is directly lifted off official websites.

I think that Unreal Tournament can be run on Software Renderer mode pretty easily. Fast paced action with nice graphics gives you the basis of the famed Unreal Tournament series. But, you need at least 256 MB ram and a PIII. Trust me, I have run it on OpenGL mode!!! It worked on my PC at slightly low resoultions.

Are you talking about the newer ut 03/04 or the original?..if you're referring to the original then it will work on a celeron 400 mhz as well without a graphics card...i was my first fps around 6 years ago

I am surprised none of the "commentators" mentioned "The new adventures of ZAK MCKRACKEN", "CEDRIC the Revolution", and "INDIANA JONES and the Last Crusade" games and many more such POINT-AND-CLICK type adventure games. They are so funny to look at but very difficult you have to use walkthroughs, but still worth a try.

@ cs_sharath: Good one? Dude .. open your eyes. @navneet: dude wtf are you doing? Half of the stuff on this feature is copy-pasted from either Wikipedia or the games' official website! Don't be so lazy man, try writing your own sh!t for a change. I used to be a fan of techtree.com, but alas, the gaming section has gone to the dogs. Please DONT DELETE THIS POST!
