The cable distribution arm of the Zee Group, Wire and Wireless India (WWIL), plans to invest Rs 800 to Rs 900 crores in providing digital cable services.
The cable distribution arm of the Zee Group, Wire and Wireless India (WWIL), formerly known as Siti Cable Network, has announced plans to invest Rs 800 to Rs 900 crores in providing digital cable services.
According to company sources, WWIL has launched CAS (Conditional Access Sytem) services under the "GalaxZee" tag, and is planning to invest Rs 800 to Rs 900 crores in the next couple of years.
WWIL recently demerged from Zee Telefilms, and is one of the country's largest multi-system operators (MSOs) with a viewer base of approximately 6.7 million panning across 35 cities.
It is proposed the investment will go mainly towards offering Internet access and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services through "GalaxZee".
However, WWIL intends for "GalaxZee" set top boxes to eventually start offering triple play of voice, video, and data, besides just Internet and VoIP.
The GalaxZee CAS service will provide all common DTH (Direct-to-Home) services, and will have a 24 hours customer grievance cell. The price payable by an individual customer will depend on his/her choice of channels, and the schemes he/she opts for.
I tried the Call center of GalaxZee and the personal Mr Vikas had no idea of the numbers of the MSO or the cable operators in Amar Colony, Lajpat Nagar for me to obtain a connection. Sad state of affairs to find this kind of relation from Zee.
