Autodesk has announced the launch of its Global Student Engineering and Design Community portal (http://students.autodesk.com).
With the aim to provide students access to the latest software, learning resources, and global networking opportunities, Autodesk has announced the launch of its Global Student Engineering and Design Community portal (http://students.autodesk.com).
The launch of the portal is part of the company's global initiative to educate students in the field of Engineering, Architecture, Gaming, and Animation and Design.
Additionally, the portal provides students free access to Autodesk software, and also presents them with an opportunity to communicate and collaborate with students across the globe.
Talking about the initiative, Rajiv Nair, Regional Director of Autodesk India, said, "With India becoming the hub for design outsourcing, and educational institutions playing a critical role in supporting the industry, it is important for graduates to be better prepared with cutting-edge technology. Autodesk's recent initiative is aimed at acquainting Indian students with the wide possibilities that 3D design technologies offer, and provide them a larger platform for marketing themselves to the global community."
As of now, more than 1100 universities across 54 countries are a part of Autodesk's Student Community portal. The students and faculty with a valid university ID can join the community, and access the various tools available on the portal.
The participants have access to a host of tutorials, invitations to forums, class discussions, social networking, and a library of international projects and case studies. The portal also provides access for students to search for employment and internship from a wide range of employers through thousands of job listings.
Autodesk said that India was amongst the 5 countries including US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand selected for the pilot launch of the portal. This initiative from Autodesk also involves students from India's four premier institutes; namely IIT Delhi and Bombay, Sir JJ School of Architecture, Mumbai, and School of Planning & Architecture, Delhi.
During the pilot phase of the project, more than 1000 Indian students have registered themselves as members of this community.
