This weekend, the Reliance ADA Group launched its online casual gaming portal, Zapak.com, which according to the company is the country's largest online gaming portal with a current catalog of more than 150 casual games. Zapak.com promises to be irreverent, whacky, fun, hi-tech and mass, and yet aspirational.

Also announced was Zapak.com's association with Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan, as part of which, a special zone on the portal will be dedicated to the 'infante terrible' of Hindi filmdom.

Most games on offer on Zapak.com will be exclusive to the portal, panning across Single Player and Multiplayer categories, as also across genres such as Action, Racing, Puzzles, Strategy, and Sports.

Meanwhile, the Salman Khan zone will host games based on him. The Khan will also work closely with the Zapak team to conceptualize games.

Some top class international content like Heli Attack 3 and Four Wheel Fury will be featured on Zapak.com. The portal will also offer unique games such as Multiplayer Sudoku wherein gamers can pit their Sudoku skills against each other.

Speaking at the launch, Rajesh Sawhney, President of Reliance Entertainment,m said, "The launch of Zapak.com comes at the right time when the Indian market is poised for a gaming explosion. The demographic and economic profile present the ideal conditions for the Indian gaming market to grow by leaps and bounds. With 54 percent of the population below 25 years of age, India is only getting younger. Therefore, gaming is an important part of our entertainment strategy, and we are investing $100 million in this venture over the next 3 years. We at Zapak believe that gaming is in our DNA."

Talking about Zapak's plans, Rohit Sharma, COO of Zapak Digital Entertainment, said, "The first phase of our launch will focus on establishing India's largest online casual Gaming Portal, Zapak.com."

"Today we also announce our association with Salman Khan for creating a zone with him on the portal. This zone will host games based on the superstar, and Salman will also work with us to conceptualize some games," Sharma said.

Sudipto Majumdar, Chief Technology Officer, Zapak.com, said that they have set-up operations of the portal on 100 servers, and can support upto 6 million users. Majumdar said they intend to increase this number in the next three years.

Salman Khan, who is in such an association for the first time, said, "There is a gamer in each one of us. India has a large youth population, and I believe that Gaming has the potential of becoming the next big passion in this country."

Salman Khan will feature in the games, and work with the Zapak team to conceptualize games. The first in a series of such games will be Puppy-razzi wherein the player will get to don the mantle of a photographer endeavoring to capture Salman in all his moods and poses.

Ok first off gaming in India may not be as popular as it is among the big guys abroad but the last thing it needs is some bollywood yuppie thinking he is the next Dante or Snake. If u r into gaming u should now movies and games dont mix.And what the hell do you mean by"the player will get to don the mantle of a photographer endeavoring to capture Salman in all his moods ".The last thing i the last thing I wanna do is take pictures of that **** and dont even get me started on that french crap. The only real thing we need is creativity.Work on that instead of stupid bollywood tieups.Reaching a broader audience does not mean polluting this beautiful and sacred medium with two bit tieups and sugar coated toffies.Man its time u guys got hardcore.

Most of the games are taken from Miniclip, the Indian gamers already know such websites so whats new with Zapak? I guess reliance being such a big organization could surely start a proper game server and let Indian gamers play online on their servers, they can surely start with the help of their existing R world's with local city wise servers.
