S2 IS is very very good- ready my review on mouthshut com - but now U have to go with 6 MP S3 IS, because S2 IS is out of production. Believe me, there is no bettercam than these two, Canon jewels.
Let me add here that be it printers or Cameras Canon products are one of the best but what one tends to ignore initially is the after sales support post warranty and this is where Canon Sucks Big time. They have franchises as service units and the company support is hopeless. Parts if available take ages to be replaced and are majorly expensive with no warranty.IMO Go for Canon if you are okay with Use and Throw kind of terminology because if it gets buggy post warranty there is no hope.
hey people beware of CANON,i bought their powershot A85 a year ago and now acting up ,it takes pictures like crap.i serached on the net and itsemms im not alone ,its some problem with the sony manufactured ccd or something, even people who bought EOS versions for 900 dollars were not spared i myself spent 17000 for this junk 18 months ago.ive gone to the place where i bought it and they say theyll replace it since its under warranty .but my question is this why would a company like canon which specializes in making cameras outsource such a critical part like CCD to sony .i used to have a canon film camera which takes beautiful pictures so i bought this one and even bought canons digicam and influenced others to buy the same .i even missed my sisters daughters birthday because of this camera.
Apart from having a 10 Mega pixel CCD, this is a retrogate step for Canon- I own & use a Canon SD 700 IS ( IXUS 700 IS) cam for past 6 months- that is the best cam for the reason
Better lens with 35 to 140MM 4X optical Zoom, much better CCD, and of course the Image stablisation, so badly needed by light & small cams. Read my review of SD 700 IS on mouthshut com. That is the best compact cam ever.
