    Tie Brings Online PC Gaming to TVs

    Verizon, along with Intel, has introduced a new service titled "Verizon Games on Demand" that offers online PC gaming on television sets.

US-based mobile service provider, Verizon, along with Intel, has introduced a new service titled "Verizon Games on Demand" that offers online PC gaming on television sets.

"Verizon Games on Demand" enables customers play popular PC games on their television sets. The new service supports Intel s Viiv technology-based PCs, and users can find it through Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (MCE).

Speaking at the launch, Kevin Corbett, vice president - digital home group and general manager - content services group, Intel, said that the combination of Intel Viiv technology and 'Verizon Games on Demand' is sure to provide consumers with a wide variety of popular gaming experiences for both the PC and the TV, thereby adding a whole new dimension to online gaming.

Colson Hillier, director - new product development, Verizon, added that they are creating a graphics-rich, 'big screen' game-playing experience for the entire family. Hillier said this is an extension of Verizon's commitment to provide customers with the content and services that they want, whenever they want, and in whichever way they want to receive it.

The new service includes features such as scheduled game downloading, click and play sans the need for installation, wireless game controllers for a console feel, automatic system check to make sure the PC can run the game, fast game downloads, and the ability to sift through games based on rating or genre.

"Verizon Games on Demand" is available for a monthly fee of approximately $9.95 (Rs 448).
