Microsoft Corp has released "Office Accounting Express 2007," financial management software designed for early start-ups and home-based businesses.
"Office Accounting Express 2007" consists of desktop software available as free download, and seven integrated online services.
Microsoft believes the software and services together will enable businesses to exploit the power of the Internet to sell products online, send and receive payments electronically, process payroll, run credit reports, and more, from within their accounting application.
According to Rajat Taneja, general manager - small business applications and services, Microsoft, "If you run a newly formed business, are an eBay seller, or still do your books in spreadsheets like Excel or on paper, you should download and use Office Accounting Express 2007. The familiar look and feel of the Microsoft Office interface will help small-business owners more easily navigate their everyday financial tasks."
The software will be available for free, while third-party integrated premium online services will be available for additional fees. Small-business owners can download Office Accounting Express 2007 at http://www.ideawins.com.
Microsoft has also announced that it will introduce "Office Accounting Professional 2007," the updated version of 'Small Business Accounting 2006'. The updated version will provide additional features, such as business dashboard, cash flow management tools, purchase and sales orders, job costing, a wider variety of financial reports, and the ability to connect to Microsoft Dynamics Point-of-Sale.
"Office Accounting Professional 2007" will enhance business efficiency by allowing multiple people within an organization to access and work with relevant financial information based on each person's role in the accounting process.
"Office Accounting Professional 2007" will be available in early 2007 for an estimated retail price of approximately $149 (Rs 6,700). Until such a time, a trial version will be made available.
