Interface
The interface of the K790i is similar to the W810i. Except for the Walkman player, all else is the same, though the look is better. The menus are smoother this time while the navigation is simple just like the K750i. Navigation can get faster once you start using the keypad instead of the joystick. The phone has the same USB connection interface as seen in the W810. Smart phones seen these days from all companies are rapidly changing and at the same time getting better as well. Now, though nothing can compare to the functionality that Symbian offers; at the same time, nothing compares to the smoothness these smart phones offer.
The phone has the same 1000 entry phone-book and the 10 dialed, received, and missed calls each. The other set of standard applications are also available like calendar, calculator, alarm, scheduler, etc.

Sound Quality
The K790i comes with similar headsets seen in Walkman packages. The earplugs provided give the same quality of sound, though the missing Walkman software and the MegaBass equalizer is what makes most of the difference.
The sound produced from the speakers is also acceptable. Now, though you wouldn't be listening to music, ringtones play loud and clear. Ringtones with a lot of bass will crack on the speakers if the ringtone volume is set to max. The FM tuner requires the headset to be connected to the phone. The FM tuner of the phone is not the best; in places with slightly bad reception, the phone fails or the volume keeps fluctuating which is not a very pleasant experience. At such times, it's best to stick to even those few MP3s on that 64 MB card.
