Tata Sky Hardware on Acer NBs

Acer has announced a unique tie up with Tata Sky to offer the Tata Sky TV Satellite connection hardware along with purchase of select Acer desktops and NBs.

Acer has announced a unique tie up with Tata Sky to offer its consumers great value for money by bundling the Tata Sky TV Satellite connection hardware, which includes the set top box and the antenna free of cost along with the purchase of select models of Acer desktop and notebook PCs. The offer is valid until Dec 31 2006.

This association is a first for the PC industry, and gives consumers a chance to access good digital entertainment with the purchase of PCs, attempting to further the concept of a digital home.

Commenting on the initiative, S Rajendran, general manager - sales and marketing, Mobility and Display Products Group, Acer India, said, "We have introduced this offer for our customers to further aid their quest for digital entertainment. This offering I am sure will cut through the clutter of festive season offers, by offering the consumer a unique combination of free digital entertainment infrastructure combined with the benefits of computerization and mobility that the consumer derives from the purchase of a PC."

The offer is applicable on the following models of Acer Notebooks - Aspire5551, Aspire5102, TravelMate3242; and Desktops - AspireSA80, AspireSA17, and AspireSA85.

According to company sources, as part of this effort, Acer will employ its widespread retail network of 250 outlets and 3000 plus registered resellers to reach out to customers seeking affordable and state of the art computer technology and Internet connectivity.

i have asus 7134 wdm Video/tv capture card with inputs: s-video, composite video, RF co-exsial, stereo audio and video. Using Win DVR recorder and pinnacle 9 studio. I was able to scan, watch and record TV from cable. recently i bought Tata Sky and can watch all the channels clearly but unable to record it on HDD. Can any body help? My PC is hp 560i. one PCI slot is empty. do i need to purchase any other card (like digital tuner card or so) please suggest. I am eagerly waiting for some one to help me. can i listen FM radio through my existing card (asus 7134 wdm)

i have hp 560i pc with 7134 wdm tv/video capture card, but unable to view tata sky channels as earlier through cable. my pc has s-video, composite and A/V rc inputs. can anybody help. presently i am viewing it throgh pinnacle am capture software but unable to record TV programme as with simple cable in earlier case

they should come up with technology to provide multiple connections for a single home... it is a pain to have multiple set top boxes and dishes!!

you dont need mutiple dishes for multiple connections in the same house..just need different set top boxes..thats fine..coz otherwise it would be the same as cable tv..one person can get the set..then give it free to the rest..quality would be compromised...the very concept of direct to home tv is one set top box for one tv..I hope u can figure it out now

Instead of STB, Tata sky should have bundled a PCMCIA Sat tuner Card, so once could view the channels on the NBook and also record them or simply use it as DVR.

u can connect PCMCIA card with STB with just minimum cost of cablaing and do so. watch, record, enjoy

Signals from the set-top-box are strong enough to support 3-4 TV sets without compromising picture quality. Use the cabling done in homes for Cable TV and use the RF output from set-top-box...connect all your TV's in home. Just dont tell Tatasky people :) its just like multiple parallel telephones at home...as per BSNL thats illegal.

But u can't view diffent channel on each TV set, b'coz channel is controll from STB not from TV remote. It is showing all channel on TV/AV mode of televison set. but u have one option of multple connection in one home at just EXtra cost of Rs100, but ofcourse after u purchase new STB@2999 and installtion, cabling done from tata sky enginners onlyyyyyyy...
