Just Slim
The X820 is the usual Tri band GSM phone and supports Polyphonic and MP3 ringtones. It has a 1000 entry phonebook with photocall. The phone stores 30 dialed, 30 received, and 30 missed calls. The X series of Samsung seemed to be very promising with the X700 having a memory card slot; though the X820 offers an 80 MB of internal memory, it's never going to be enough. The internal memory won't be enough for even a part of an album. Therefore the MP3 player of the phone doesn't really make sense without the provision for expansion of memory. The missing memory card slot emphasizes it even more that the phone should have had an FM tuner. Apart from that, the Music player of the phone has support for numerous formats; MP3, WAV, AAC, and AAC+. The phone has around 4 MB for your SMSs and MMSs.
The sound quality of the phone is average. The headsets provided are also fine but then there is no punch. The highs are quite acceptable while the lows aren't the best. The phone, moreover, in the first place isn't a music player like the Walkman series from Sony Ericsson, so not much should be expected. I even tested the phone's A2DP profile, which is basically the stereo Bluetooth profile of the phone. I used a Motorola stereo headset, which worked flawlessly at a range of about 25 meters with stereo quality at its best. That was without any obstacles in the way.
The X820 has support for GPRS and EDGE; both Class 10. The phone offers a WAP 2.0 browser for faster browsing. The widescreen of the phone is really helpful providing a lot of view that helps getting rid of lot of scrolling. The phone has a USB connection through its own custom USB port that triples as a headset port and a charging port as well.

The X820 has a new fresh appeal. The phone has an all new OS that is very smart; it is something that almost all mobile companies are implementing even LG, Nokia (new Series 40 UI), Motorola, and now even Samsung. There is this unique feature of playing your message instead of just displaying it. The words flow like lyrics and emoticons pop up on the screen.
