It's been over two months now that we had a Laptop in our test-labs, the main reason being the introduction of the Core Duo laptops in the market and the shortage of them.

The last laptop we tested was from the same company, Gigabyte, whose Core Duo laptop we have today. The laptop looks like it's reincarnated and poses an all new fresh appeal to mobile-computing. The Gigabyte W551N is from the new line of Dual Core notebooks from, of course, Gigabyte. The Dual Core processors make possible effective and faster mobile computing.

Let's dive into the review by first taking a look at its specification.

Specs

Intel Dual Core T2300E (1.66 GHz, 667 MHz, 2 MB L2 Cache)

512 MB DDR2 RAM

15.4-inch WXGA TFT LCD

nVIDIA Go 7400

80 GB HDD 5400 rpm

My PCMCIA card fits in the slot, but only goes in about halfway. The Front right quarter of the slot is blocked and there is no pins inside the port, it looks like a type of scsi connector on the inside

Dell Inspiron 6400 for Rs.55000 (all inclusive with delivery charges in Mumbai) seems a better deal. You can upgrade to DVD burner for ~Rs.1450 more

Fn is a function key which is used to operate special functions on the keyboard which are represented by the same color. Like pressing Shift and an alphabet to type capitals. Fn key alongwith brightness buttons can be used to increase decrease the brightness of screen. Same goes for volume control and enabling projector, etc. O tainnu laptop kinne ditta bhutni-de :)

quote:introduction of the Core Duo laptops in the market and the shortage of them When all the manufacturers have their lineups filled with core duo, intel plans to shift nearly 85% of its same to core duo by this year end, the core duo based laptops have been there past early August in India. Hell even meroms thanks to Dell. Almost every manufacturer in the market has core duo laptops in huge numbers and you report lack of availability? can you throw some light on it? As for as the laptop, I would rather buy a Inspiron 6400 customized.

"The laptop has a 80 GB HDD that runs at 5400 rpm,..." "This way the 60 GB HDD will be an adequate storage." 80GB or 60GB; Make up your mind !!
