Asus has released one of its first laptops with HD DVD drive. The optical drive will be seen in the Asus W2P laptop. The sleek W2J model provides HDCP support and an HDMI out. It has an ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 chip to run the graphics of the laptop.

The other features include a hybrid analog/digital TV tuner, built-in Dolby surround sound, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, and space for expanding the RAM to 2 GB. It is powered by a Merom Core 2 Duo chip available in both 4 MB L2 and 2 MB L2 cache versions. There are no details on the pricing or availability for this laptop.
