At an event in Mumbai today, MSN launched the MSN India home page (http://in.msn.com) with a new look, along with four new channels; namely Lifestyle, Entertainment, News, and Sports. The company also launched the Windows Live Domains service, as a part of its six year celebration.
MSN said the new and improved look of the MSN India home page features a more vibrant and user friendly interface with better graphics. The home page also features desktop TV that portrays images with better quality, greater value added content, and integrated advertisements. Additionally, the homepage allows users to change its colors with two options; simple and classic.
During the event, Krishna Prasad, head - programming, MSN and Windows Live India, said, "It's only natural that users will want a faster, easier, and friendlier approach to the MSN network, and with the makeover of the MSN India home page and the channels, there will now be more exciting content and a simple user interface on offer for the consumers."
News, Entertainment, and Sports channels already existed on MSN, but they have been revamped; while the Lifestyle channel is the newest addition.
The News and Business Section provides updates on all the latest news around the world. The Business section features the stock markets. Both sections feature a poll section, where the user can voice his views and opinions on all the important issues. Most of the content here is powered by NDTV.
The Entertainment channel gives the latest happenings in Bollywood, Hollywood, and Tollywood (read: South Indian movies). It updates the user about the movies which are running in the theatres, along with reviews, music, and much more. According to Prasad, along with Bollywood, they have also focused on Hollywood and the South, which was missing earlier.
The Sports channel features the latest happenings from the world of sport, be it cricket, football, tennis, Formula 1, or others. A unique feature here is the player search section which allows you to search for the best sites that feature the biggest Sports icons.
The MSN Lifestyle channel offers information related to everything that revolves around daily life such as latest fashion, healthcare and fitness, work, travel, and relationships. It provides the perfect read for users across all ages. Additionally, it features an interactive section called "Ask the Expert" where the user can raise queries that will be answered by the experts.
MSN India also announced the launch of the Windows Live Domains service, where users can have their own domain names such as yourfamilyname.com or auniquename.com, and create an unlimited number of free email accounts for everyone in the respected domain. Everyone on the user's domain will get a hotmail account, which can be upgraded to Windows Live Mail Beta for free. The Windows Live Domains service is expected to be available within a week.
