Just a week ago, we reviewed the XFX Geforce 7950 GX2 . Today, we test another Geforce 7950 GX2 from BIG. BIG is well-known in India for offering graphic cards and that too way lower than the competitor's price. Let's see if this card is up to XFX's mark in terms of performance and price.

The Card

The card looks exactly similar to the XFX Geforce 7950 GX2 with the exception of the brand sticker on the cooling fan. Similar to the XFX Geforce 7950 GX2, the card has two PCB designs, each PCB housing one GPU and plenty of memory chips. If we look at the card from above, one can clearly see a link between the two PCB linking the cards in an SLI format. Each PCB has individual cooling system. It requires the graphic power connector to be attached before it is ready to be used. This thing surely requires powerful and stable SMPS. According to Nvidia, the peak power consumption of the 7950 GX2 is 140-150W. There are two DVI connectors, which are used for multi-display purpose and the usual S-Video Out.

Specification

The specifications are exactly same as the XFX Geforce 7950 GX2.

Nice card. The price tag of 33k is not something that I would pay considering the fact that the price will drop considerably (as per the current trend of better technology for less cost)

Why in God's name do you start your graphs from values other than zero? Do you understand that such graphs give a distorted picture of the difference between the 7900GTX and the 7950GX2?

With DirectX 10 and Windows Vista on the horizon, any one would be hesitant to recommend dropping a lot of money on a GPU upgrade right now if you don't need it. DirectX 9 hardware should still remain useful for years after the DirectX 10 launch, but unless you really have a lot of disposable income and are willing to upgrade GPUs again in less than six months, my advice would generally be to stick with current generation cards costing 10k or less. Such cards offer more than enough performance for the vast majority of users, and even if DirectX 10 won't be a factor in the short term, DX10 class cards will be able to handle DX9 class games all the better. One expects high-end cards built for DX10 to well exceed the performance of DX9 hardware even under current games.

You guys do a lot of N-Vidia card testing but none from ATI. Please try to include an ATI x1900xtx card in your next test.
