    LG KG800 a.k.a. Chocolate

Frazier Barretto, Sep 12, 2006 1400 hrs IST

LG has joined the bandwagon of the brands developing new designs with LG KG800 a.k.a. Chocolate.

Very Stylish, Sleek exteriors, Great gloss finish, Good screen, Neat touchpad, Very light, Good battery life, USB, 128 MB inbuilt memory, 1.3 MP camera, Flash, Bluetooth.

No expandable memory, No FM tuner, MP3 player can't be minimized, Poor software bundle.

No one needs an introduction to the presence of LG in the mobile markets. They seem to be doing quite well with regards to CDMA handsets. The only GSM model that did manage to sell a lot before was a clamshell, namely the LG M4410. Now, the company has another model, which has penetrated the markets overseas and plans to do so even in the country with the ample ammo of added temptation; Dark Temptation.

The KG800 carries style, and a whole lot of it and at the same doesn't fall back in providing decent features. Until now, it was Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, and Motorola that were the pioneers in developing new designs; LG also joins these top brands with this model. Let's go ahead and taste how sweet or bitter this chocolate actually is.

The Bundle

LG KG800

Stereo Headset (with Remote)

Custom USB Cable

Charger (3 pin)

Software CD

Manual

Relishing Factors

The LG KG 800 is a slider with a touch D-Pad that is something new to mobile phones. The touch D-Pad will be a hit amongst iPod-lovers. As for the others, it won't take more than ten minutes to get used to it, leaving out those exceptional cases. So-much-so, I can safely proclaim that after some prolonged usage of the phone, you will find yourself in a position where you can not imagine owning any other phone than the LG KG 800, not to mention the touch interface.

The touch D-Pad not only feels good to use but even looks killer with its red-backlighting. The phone is sleek and very light, keeping in mind it's a slider; it's hard to believe that the phone just weighs 83 grams; its dimensions stand at 95 x 48 x 15.2 mm.

why do people like you keep asking the cost of the products when it is clearly given on the last page of every review

Whoa Danger guy, Chillax!!!! Maybe TT should consider putting the price UpFront (on d first pg) instead of d last page (of d review). Dats one of d most imp factors!

Techtree you need to get uniform standards of reviewing. One of your reviewers goes ga ga over looks while others extols the virtues of technology. Personally i think the phone is not worth it without more memory. 128mb is a joke today if you want to hear mp3s. I could suddenly like a cute phone with minimum features but that doesn't give me the right to give a biased review. My friend Mr. Reviewer "all that glitters aint gold" ....

thats called marketing... first let out a phone with not much features in.then after some time when the sales drops.put in some more features.case in point motorazr was a snub in features.then v3i,expandable memory etc etc.

Really its very nice cell but the features are not available in detail. So if you provide its all feature in details. So it is easy for us because how to campare with other cellls. Because at present market so many cell are availbale with so many ficilities. And you also not show's its price.

True .. the absence of expandable memory is bad. Would 128Mb be sufficient?

After getting sucked in to purchase LGM4410 car phone, earlier in the year. I won't touch an LG phone with a barge pole. The battery is a nightmare and features disjointed Beware

The features don't warrant the price. Looks will wear off eventually or the user will get bored. In my opinion, it's very highly priced. Looks like LG is trying to recover all their previous blunders and losses with the launch of this phone. That said, I'm curious about the touchpad and the user experience it would give. It might be a good phone for women(or men) who don't care too much about features but want good tactile and visual experience from phones.
