HP India has reportedly launched the iPAQ hw6900 Mobile Messenger series targeted at mobile professionals that the company says offers the best in connectivity, productivity, and mobility.
The iPAQ hw6900 series includes a 3-inch transflective TFT display, and sports an integrated Global Positioning System (GPS), which is a fully-functional satellite navigation system allowing users to track their exact location on a global map.
The series comes enabled with features such as: GSM and GPS capabilities to provide travelers with turn-by-turn navigation; mobile e-mail and messaging; Wi-Fi connectivity; quad-band GSM voice connectivity; GPRS; and infrared and Bluetooth connectivity.
Commenting on the new series, Ravi Swaminathan, vice-president - personal systems group, HP, said, "The new HP iPAQ hw6900 Multimedia Messenger Series is designed with the Indian consumer in mind, as part of HP's 'Designed in Asia for Asia (DIAFA)' initiative to reflect the consumer's style today. It is designed to cater to the increasing need for a single device to address all productivity and mobility needs of professionals."
According to HP, the iPAQ hw6900 is a robust platform for Pushmail and Microsoft Outlook synchronization, allowing users to receive emails, as also access appointments, contacts, and calendar entries. The new series is built on the latest Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Phone Edition, with a security feature pack enabling users deploy Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Other features include a 1.3MP HP Photosmart camera, Microsoft Windows Media Player 10 Mobile, in-built QWERTY keyboard, integrated Mini-SD slot, 45 MB storage capacity, 64 MB SDRAM (synchronous dynamic random access memory), and removable/rechargeable lithium-ion battery (1200mAh).
The HP iPAQ hw6900 Mobile Messenger series is expected to ship this month, at prices starting at Rs 38,000 (plus taxes).
