SolidWorks Corp has announced availability of SolidWorks Student Edition 2006-2007 software in the country, which is specially configured and packaged for today's engineering and industrial design students.
According to company sources, with this software, students can quickly learn 3D CAD and hone their skills, rather than spending time learning complex software. The software promises unmatched ease-of-use, power, and innovations to help students master the fundamentals of engineering design, and prepare them for rewarding and lucrative careers.
Incidentally, participants in this year's "Passion for Design - SolidWorks Design Contest" have been given a copy each of SolidWorks Student Edition software, so as to enable them participate in the contest, and design products in the area of energy development, life enhancement, and handicap assistance.

The product is good, and easy to understand the 3d concept fastly than other 3d softwares tools, but they should get the right jobs also on this 3D tool software
SolidWorks is a great Design Software for Mechanical Engineers.
Is there any SolidWorks Authorized Training Centre in Chennai where Certification Test can be taken?
I hope the new 2007 and the future versions of Solidworks comes with a whole lot of surfacing tools which is quite useful for complex body styling for automotive industry
But SolidWorks student version is always one year behind the main product. So SolidWorks 2006-2007 student is actually SolidWorks 2006. It says so on their site.

SolidWorks Education Edition 2006-2007 includes all the elements of the commercial version of SolidWorks Office Premium 2006, including SolidWorks Routing, COSMOSWorks? Designer, and COSMOSMotion. It also includes COSMOSFloWorks? for fluid flow and thermal analysis.
So student's miss out on the latest release and have to work with one year old software. So I guess you'll have to wait for a year for "one of the best ever" versions.
