Altera Corporation, in conjunction with BITS Pilani University, has invited students to submit proposals to "Innovate" a multi-disciplinary engineering designs contest for undergraduate and graduate students in the country.
The contest is designed with a view towards increasing knowledge of programmable logic, while enhancing engineering design skills.
Altera's University Program is now in its tenth year of providing support for the advancement of computer science and electrical engineering education. The program equips professors and students in undergraduate and graduate courses, with programmable logic-based curricula and tools necessary for training and development of advanced system design.
Till date, Altera is known to have trained over 30,000-odd engineers around-the-world, and the program is rapidly expanding.
Participants can submit original project ideas, and enter as teams with a maximum of up to five people. Each design proposal must include an Altera FPGA, and will be judged for its market value, design complexity, and quality of execution.
The top 100 semifinalists will receive educational material, design software, and FPGA boards, which they will use to convert their product ideas into prototypes.
The top 15 finalists will present their business plans and working product prototypes at the "Innovate" finals to be held during the annual APOGEE 2007 techfest at BITS Pilani in March 2007.
