D-Link has launched its new ADSL 2+ Router, "GLB-502T," designed to provide a simple and cost-effective ADSL Internet connection for individual computers.
With GLB-502T, the company aims to combine high-speed ADSL technology with a robust router in one compact device.
The router provides Internet connection through either Ethernet or USB ports, and can also be used to bridge Ethernet LAN to the Internet. It supports 8 PVCs, and enables users to access data, voice, and video simultaneously. It promises to achieve upstream data rates of 1Mbps, and downstream data rates of 22 Mbps. It has in-built ADSL POTS splitter, which separates voice and data at the customer premise, thus enabling the ADSL line to be directly and seamlessly terminated on the unit.
According to D-Link, the GLB-502T provides a secure Web-based management interface with administrative and restricted access, to remotely configure and monitor itself. The router s management software can also be remotely accessed by telnet.
Besides, the GLB-502T offers Network Address Translation (NAT) that allows multiple users on the LAN to access Internet concurrently through a single Internet account. NAT is believed to improve network security, by hiding the private network behind one global IP address. NAT address mapping can also be used to link two IP domains via a LAN-to-LAN connection. This feature allows users to select a data path to a particular network destination that remains in the routing table forever.
The GLB-502T is available in the market for an approximate street price of Rs 1,600 plus taxes.
Same for me with my Dlink DSL-G604T, was hang one per day. I completely solve this problem with program named "Router Commander". This program work like telnet script, but doing all jobs automatically.
my adsl line is constantly flickering and i am unable to connect tonet as it needs to be stable for pppoe led to glow.after switching it on it takes 20min-2 hrs to get connected to net.please provide some solution.iam fed up
bought the GLB-502T router for my BSNL Broadband and I find this router is utter rubbish and D Link Company should be sued and taken to task by lodging complain with Cunsumer Forum. The TOLL free 1800-222-002 as per MTNL does not work. The other # 28447600 does not exist. The ADSL2+Router worked fine for few months now has developed. My vendor says that it will take minimum 20 days for repairs or replacement. The Router hangs in both LAN as well as USB conncection. I have to frequently power off wait for few sec and then power on again it is so frustrating. The LAN line doesn't gets recognised that giving Frequently the "Local Area Connection" is getting disconected along with the ADSL. The LAN card is not a problem as I am tested using both my PC as well as Laptop. The problem I believe lies in the firmware also this unit generates a lot of heat - may be that's the root cause of these problems. LINKSYS is any time better than a cheap stuff from DLINK.
I agree fully to Rajib Jaiswal since this stuff is utter rubbish with same problem and since begining I get a snail's speed on a so called broadband connection can anyone help from the consumer rights forum.
I am facing similar problems with this 502T modem.
1. The modem works fine for 1 hour or so and then it gets over heated and stalls !! Only the power LED glows. When I turn it off, wait for 2/3 minutes and start it again then I can't connect to the DNS server...I mean host names are not resolved to IP when I try to ping to any host say google.co.in or something else...but if I ping the IP directly say 74.125.91.104 etc then it succeeds. This means that my links, cables, NIC etc are working fine. It's just the modem that's the culprit here.
2. One more problem is that even if I can access the Internet, I can't login to my modem with admin/admin. When ever I try to connect to 192.168.1.1, all browsers say - "page can't be displayed". I have checked all configuration settings and they are correct. And I was able to login with same details some months back. WTF !!
I think there are serious problems with this modem hardware. It's certainly not a firmware issue, it could be something else. A firmware upgrade won't resolve these problems as these are because of over heating.
Please tell me some other modem that is compatible with MTNL broadband which I can purchase.
dear i m MTNl broadband user and want to share net on my three comp. i have dlink 502t adsl router along with the Compex 8 port Switch. when we plug direct ro router then the speed comes very fast in the one comp. and when we plug with switch with giving IP add. then speed goes very slow 40 kbps only and direct speed come 1500kbps. kindly tell me what to do...
Can anyone pl. suggest me a powerful & efficient Modem having consistent performance with BSNL Dataone BB service? I am fed-up with D-Link GLB-502T being frequently hung-up may be due to overheating of the set.
I have purchased a GLB 502T ADSL 2+ Modem router From D'link....I have a static IP based connection from TATA Communications (Formerly VSNL ) ....I want to connect the router from switch to my 5/6 computers....kindly let me know the configuration method for this Static IP Connection
Dont buy this Dlink modem. I had great faith in dlink, but i am totally disappointed. It makes my system hang after 10 min in USB connection. LAN connection works 2 hours but then there is heating problem. Dlink customer support is useless. They only suggest to take the modem to their service center for firmware upgrade. It may take 15 days to get back ur modem and it may not solve ur problem. Buy modem from BSNL itself. BSNL modems are cheaper but much better than Dlink.
Please tell me how to configure D-Link GLB-502T ADSL 2+ Router for DATAONE Broadband? I want to access 5 computers at a time. How to setup it? Step by step clarification will be a great help.

Even I am facing a similar problem - invalid username/password or domain. However, I amd able to access my BSNL email account with same username/password. Initially it got connected and the next day onwards its giving this problem. Even the PPPoE is not working within the router. I had to configure my GLB-502T router in bridge mode and use a PPPoE dialer to get thru. Now nothing is working..

Hi,I have purchased an Adsl broad band connection from MTNL on my PC.Can I use adsl splitter to connect two or three more PC's with this DSL502T,or can I connect these by a switch? Is there any speed or bandwidth problem?
Hi,
I've purchased this modem from the market about 6 months back for mtnl triband.
Now from 15th august MTNL has introduced iptv facility through triband. Now I want to take this facility. but can I use this modem for this facility?
As the modem is having only one usb and one lan port.
i purchased GLB-502T modem/router about a month back.It worked satisfactorily for 15-20 days with the occasional hang ups..then from last week it has stopped working altogether..the led's other than power refuse to glow.and can't ping 192.168.1.1 or the bsnl dns server. Pls help.
I bought GLB 502T modem last weekly. It has over heating problem. Its annoying me very much. I spoke to their customer centre wich is toll free. They are saying that i should switch off my modem for every 2 hours once. What is this nonsence. I work from home. I need internet connection continously. Because of that i took data one connection. I dont blame data one because it has amazing speed. But this modem works fine for two hours and then starts disconnecting for every 1o to 20mts. its stupid right. how can i work from home with this modem? i have kept it modem vertically and also bottom side up. tried every thing. but no way. Is there any other adsl modem wich works well. i need have to connect the net continuously at least for 8hrs per day. Is there any modem which works continuously? i am fedup with this modem.
I don't face any problem of overheating like what said about the modem. The modem is working fine.I had been working with the modem continously for 8 hrs to see wether there is any problem. But it is working fine.
Although it is too late to reply on your issue, but if you are still using that modem and facing over heating problem, then please change the 220VAC to 9VAC, 1 Ampere power adapter. May be the adapter is supplying improper voltage/current to the modem.
Hey Guys,
I already have a Tata Indicom broadband connection. It has been connected to my Wireless router. Now I want to take ADSL router for MTNL TriBand for backup connection. My question is can I connect the ADSl router to my Wireless? And, if yes, then can I control the usage of both connections.
Thanks in advance
MTNL is giving DSL-502T for 256Kbps broadband connection. If I purchase GLB-502T will it work for the same? Will these models compatible & configured with RedHatEnterprise LinuxWSv4.0 & drivers available?
i have only usb port in my computer and no ethernet port. as GLB 502T can be used in both of these ports . plz help me configure it for usb in Bridge mode..
You need to install GLB 502T drivers in your computer. You can find these drivers in cd which comes with your modem. and then configure your modem for bridge mode. for this you need to create a connection with bridge mode and supply proper vpi and vci values. follow the instructions given in the modem broucher to setup bridge mode. hope it helps you.
Guys I just bought a new D-Link 502t modem for BSNL Connection. Is there any serious problem with this modem. What ever you guys have said about this modem is it correct.I mean the modem is faulty.Kindly suggest.
GLB 502T router can be configured as instructed in their manual. MOST IMPORTANT TELEPNONE LINE SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY DISTURBANCE. Router's FIRMWARE NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED & IT HAS OVERHEATING Problem, due, which it gets, disconnected... blow air through the cooling ports and it will again reconnect. As in deeps blog, keep the router upside down or inclined to keep its heated airflow upward for sufficient cooling. D-Link should come out with the solution. Is their R&D being done at customer cost?

I am using D link DSL-502T Modem since last one year rented from MTNL along with TRIBAND. It is perofrming pretty well except some times it hangs, Where one has no choice but to Power Off and on again. I am now looking for wirless lan router which i can use with MTNL triband. Anyone has any idea?? Which one i can buy ? and where i can get it ?
This news article triggerred my purchase of GLB-502T modem. But I think I made a wrong decision. The modem used to hang after around 30 mins. of use. 3 weeks back the PPPoE light went blank (no internet connection). I have just got back the replacement after 10 days of wait. It looks like it is better to rent the modem from ISP.
I have recently purchase in modem (router)Model GLB-502T..
I have been use in AirTel broadband connection.
My problem
Fornt panel of ADSL light every time flicker.
I complained to Airtel customer service.
Service man came my house. He check to my computer and modem.
He told me , Dlink modem has internal default.
Service man had been temporary check in another modem (beetel ?220BX).it is link clear. ( not Flicker )
So service man told me, Dlink modem has internal fault.
Again I asked to service man . modem (router) is common for all of broad band service. It is accept for all link .
Dlink is very big company. I did not believe it.
Service man told me . Dlink modem(router) is not accept my AirTel configuration.
I have been see all of customer till now.
So sir I request to you .what should I do. Tell me? give me you suggestion.

chennai.
For all those who are facing problems of ADSL Led flickering. The solution is to get the telephone line away fro power line. People tend to take the telephone line along with power lines. This causes interference. This works.
I am also airtel customer and use dlink modem.IT is normal for adsl light to flicker when data transfer is going on broadband.Read the manual or download it from dlink website. No flicker on ADSL means no data transfer, flicker means data transfer
I am having the same problem, and I have an Irtel connection.I returned the modem which Airtel perople provided and bought a Dlink GLB-502T, since then my problems have started. The modem has serious issues with elctromagnetic interference when you switch in the tubelight( the modem goes dead). The airtel was working perfectly fine in all conditions. So my friend when your are connected to internet don;t even try to touch the switc panel( else you need to disconnect and connect again).
Anyone who has successfully configured GLB-502T router with BSNL?? I only see help requests, but no one has confirmed that these two work together. If someone can post detailed instructions, it will be great. I am confused with VPI, VCI and such terminology.
i must say that the bsnl guys are lousy have purchased my own dlink glb-502t after been given a big runaround.I have made the physical connection however need to set up the modem to use it any info regaring same id appreciated.
Just go for BSNL Dataone with TYPE-2 modem which costs 1800 which has WiFi too. BSNL is very reliable and I have been using for more than a year without any complaint.
I had applied for a bsnl connection 4 months back. when I contacted the division engineer he told me that there are no modems (HUAWEI brand) available. they had some 5000 pieces and found them all faulty so sent them for warranty replacement and will not get any till next 6 months. so i am going to buy just this dlink modem and be tension free :)
I also had those Ching ping modems with BSNL- worked seemly fine for 1.5 years, then all of a sudden started showing "disco lights" & malfunctioned. Now,I have been asked to purchase a new ching ping modem & the one that I had initially (typeI) is out of stock for ages (probably the ching ping mfg's did not "look after" our ministers & BSNL guys well!!). I have been asked to purchase a new expensive ching ping modem which wifi , extra USB ports and all the bells & whistles. Please advise.
I have been using Data one for the past 6 months with Type I modem("DareGlobal" ADSL), some unknown chinese make supplied by BSNL. However i have had no probs with the modem till date.
