Microsoft Entertainment & Devices Division has announced that its eagerly awaited Xbox 360 gaming system will launch before Diwali this year.
In an announcement that might set quite a few hearts aflutter, Microsoft Entertainment & Devices Division has said that its eagerly awaited Xbox 360 gaming system will make its debut in the Indian market in the pre-Diwali season this year.
The company said the Xbox 360 system will come fully-loaded with a 20GB detachable Xbox 360 Hard Drive for storing music, video, and games; an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller; an Xbox 360 Media Remote control; a component HD-AV Cable for connecting to component and composite television inputs; an Ethernet cable; and batteries.
Mohit Anand, country manager, Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division, India, said, "The timing for the launch of Xbox 360 couldn't have been better. The Indian gaming community is currently at an inflection point, and is poised to experience exponential growth in the coming few years, as digital experiences emerge as a defining norm in collaborative entertainment. The Xbox 360 will serve to be a catalyst to fuel this growth, and expose Indian gamers to next generation gaming experiences."
According to Microsoft, there will be two core product offerings at the time of the launch: the Xbox 360 Core System plus one leading game title at an ERP of Rs 19,990; and the Xbox 360 System at an ERP of Rs 23,990. Redington will be the national distributor for Xbox 360. On this occasion, Microsoft has also announced extension of its global partnership with Addidas, MTV, and Samsung.
But most of all... let's hope for the best, considering Microsoft's track record so far in keeping with launch deadlines!
Don't forget to import the NYKO INTERCOOLER 360. This is a 3 fan cooling system for XBOX 360. Many people in USA, EUROPE and EAST ASIA seem to require this item. Otherwise the XBOX 360 will overheat for sure.
wtf ???
it costs $399 for the upper end xbox 360 in the US when these things are manufactured in china and south east asia. but it costs > $480 when M$ sells it in India ???
i didn't know that it costs a lot more to ship stuff to India from China than to the US!!!
Consoles have always cost a bomb in India.
I wonder how many people will buy a 360 at that price. Not that I care. I was wondering if anybody knew which one would come the PAL or the NTSC. MS sold the NTSC Xbox in India. Hopfully they will sell games for both systems.
It is not just shipping - since they are importing the item, they have to pay a huge customs duty. That is why most imported items cost about 30 to 50% higher in India. A very good example is all Apple products
This price sucks, since i can import one or tell one of my friends to bring from US for a cheaper price. I am gonna to import Nintendo Wii when its released since its lot cheaper. It would be lots of fun playing with your friends.
