Educomp Solutions, an e-learning solutions provider, has reportedly launched a new online learning initiative called "Mathguru.com".
The company says that Mathguru.com is an innovative approach to mathematics, designed to help students solve problems based on their text books and syllabus, on an anytime-anywhere basis.
Educomp says the program aims at making an otherwise dry and dull subject - a lot of fun for millions of students in schools across-the-country. Designed for students from class VI to class XII, the math-help program is claimed to bring-about a shift in the learning process - from a passive instructive experience, to one that is explorative and available on demand.
The company says the program will help students understand fundamental concepts, rather than merely providing solutions to questions. With the program, students will be able to select specific questions, and check-out solutions.
Speaking about the initiative, Shantanu Prakash, managing director, Educomp Solutions, said that high student-teacher ratio, limited problem-solving at schools, plus even more limited homework assistance from parents at home, are amongst the chief reasons that have motivated Educomp to develop Mathguru.
Abhinav Dhar, senior vice president, Educomp Solutions, said that Mathguru is all about independent learning. The Web site is designed to help students complete their math homework, practice and revise anytime, with a click of the mouse. Dhar said that Mathguru's colorful method of explaining solutions might result in obviating to a large extent, the need to resort to tuitions for the child.
Touted as a first-of-its-kind program, Mathguru aims at providing help to students, when they need it the most. The program can be accessed basis a subscription of Rs 1,200 that is valid for one academic year.
this is all bull****, just another moneymaking scheme. A similar site(planetvidya.com) and evn this site provided content to my school for online learning. Trust me, none of them could make learning fun. They just dont wanna devote time and use FLASH to create decent models, with graph and stuff for learning. Models available for free on the net made by amateur programmers who just like practicing their skills are much better than these. We really need programmes which can be compared to programmes used by scientists for fast calculations and visual aids.
Good website, and looks like they are explaining it very well. I tried their demo class, on Firefox and it did not show up. This can be informed on their system requirements page "Only IE supported"
