Sulekha.com, a popular online community portal, has launched its Yellow Pages service on the WAP platform. The new service promises to enable users access over 400,000 business listings through their mobile phones from anywhere, and at anytime.
Speaking about the initiative, Vineet Pabreja, director - interactive services, Sulekha.com, said that Sulekha qualifies as the first company in the country to deliver Yellow Pages in the WAP format, and that with this move, mobile users will now be able to access information faster and more easily.
Launched six months ago in Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai, the Menu of Sulekha's Yellow Pages comprises 15 key business categories, and more than 300 sub-categories.
Available from mobile operators offering GSM/GPRS services, the service, according to the company, helps display business addresses and phone numbers in a matter of a few seconds, on the user's mobile.
Yellow Pages offers information on businesses within the country, as well as in USA and Canada. The cities covered here include Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, while users accessing the US and Canadian arm of the service can get details on Indian businesses present in Atlanta, Austin, Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia, Seattle, Washington DC, and Toronto.
