With the count-down to the SSC (Class X) results having begun, students and parents alike have gone into an anxiety overdrive...
While sources within the Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education disclose that mark-sheets will be distributed to students today at their respective schools, service providers the likes of Hutch, Reliance, etc, have jumped onto the results bandwagon in full-sway, in an attempt to provide SSC results prior to the official declaration.
And though this might serve to soothe fraught nerves, one "Maharashtra Samajik Vikas Foundation (MSVF)" from Pune has taken objection, and filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on the issue.
Among other things, the petition argues that the Board, which is a statutory body, should not be providing copies of results to private companies (service providers). Further, there is no reason why the Board should accept royalty from service providers, for making results available in advance. Also, it is unethical for service providers to extort money from parents and students in their present situation.
MSVF claims that service providers cough-up obscene amounts to the tune of Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000, so as to get results from the Board in advance. Not only this, they make much more than what they pay to the Board in lieu of the services they provide to students.
I dont see any thing wrong or unethical in this . If are willing to pay use the service. secondly ssc board can have its on biz model rather than sell data fixed price it could based on revenue sharing and generated money can used to improve its IT infrastructure.
All of us forget one thing. Why are we paying for knowing the result few hours early? What will happen if you get to know the result say three hours late? Will your marks change? Then why blame mobile companies? If people are ready to pay just to boast that they knew result three hours early, why should we care? Just waste of space and time for everyone. Please stop such stupid articles on your website unless you do not have anything else to show.
