Microsoft has announced the first release of its Antigen anti-virus and anti-spam products for e-mail systems.
Microsoft has announced the first release of its Antigen anti-virus and anti-spam products for e-mail systems. These were acquired from Sybari Software in June 2005.
The e-mail security products include Antigen for Exchange, Antigen for SMTP Gateways, Antigen Spam Manager, and Antigen Enterprise Manager.
Antigen for Exchange integrates into Exchange Server 2003 and 2000, to stop viruses and other malicious content from reaching a corporate network, and to contain internal outbreaks. Antigen for SMTP Gateways provides similar features for Windows Server systems running a mail server.
Antigen Spam Manager offers anti-spam and content filtering services to both Windows Server and Exchange Server set-ups. Antigen Enterprise Manager provides centralized management for Antigen-protected servers.
The entire range of Antigen e-mail security products uses multiple scan engines, to help provide complete protection from viruses, spam, and other security threats. Additionally, the products incorporate for the first time, Microsoft s own anti-virus engine.
In a statement, Ted Kummert, corporate vice president - security, access and solutions division, Microsoft, said that Antigen s unique multi-engine solution integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Exchange Server, to provide customers with the benefits of layered protection while minimizing cost.
Besides these four Antigen products, Microsoft has also announced other security products, including Antigen Messaging Security Suite, Antigen for SharePoint, Antigen for Instant Messaging, and Antigen Management Pack for Microsoft Operations Manager 2005.
All Antigen e-mail security products are expected to be available to end-users by July 1, 2006.
