NEC LCD Technologies will begin shipping samples of its new 4.3-inch, amorphous silicon, thin-film-transistor (TFT) liquid crystal display (LCD).
NEC LCD Technologies has announced that it will begin shipping samples of its new 4.3-inch, amorphous silicon, thin-film-transistor (TFT) liquid crystal display (LCD) module, part number NL4827HC19-01B, with wide quarter video graphics array (WQVGA) display technology and resolution of 480 x 272 pixels, starting this month.
The company said that next-generation portable display terminals such as personal digital assistants (PDAs), photo viewers, and global positioning systems (GPS) require highly advanced functionality to be able to store and reproduce large animation files. Therefore, the demand for large screens with higher resolutions and aspect ratios of 16:9 is rising.
According to the company, it has designed the new TFT-LCD module, the first-of- its-kind, to meet these demands, and generally become the display device of choice in next-generation portable terminal applications.
The major features of the new TFT-LCD module include wide-screen with 16:9 aspect ratio, high luminance of 350 candelas per square meters (cd/m2) providing excellent lighting on the liquid crystal panel and in the backlight system, and a touch panel that makes the new system an excellent choice for use in mobile terminals.
