iPods are the genuine trend-setters in the hard disk based mp3 players' domain. But, proving correct-to-the-core that every good thing carries a price tag; it became apparent that it can not satisfactorily fit the bill of being portable. The next entrant on the horizon was the flash memory based mp3 players, which soon became popular with the likes of iPod Shuffle and Creative Zen Nano Plus.

Transcend, a Taiwan based company and leader in memory productions, has set its radar on the production of flash based mp3 players, coined as the T.sonic Series. Being well acquainted and acknowledged in the realm of memory productions; it appears to be a perfect path to tread. The T610 initially provided a max of 1 GB capacity. The company has now re-launched it with 2 GB catering to the popular demand.

The Package

The T-610 isn't anything spectacular to the eye and resembles a desktop speaker set remote. The moment you get your claws on it, you'll realize it's quite light, weighing in at just 28 grams. The dimensions of this player is 70 mm x 34.5 mm x 15.5 mm (L x B x D) which is quite big when compared to the MobiBlu DAH-1500. The player comes packed with a set of earphones, mini-USB to standard USB cable, driver CD, custom carry case, user manual, and a hand strap.

The packaging is first-rate and took me a while to unveil it. A couple of brochures contribute to the literature provided along, of course promotional stuff for other Transcend products, which is a trash.
