AMD has announced the launch of its Live! PC and Live! Entertainment Suite.

According to AMD, the Live! PC is a media center PC designed to enable consumers organize, distribute, share, and enjoy their digital content at home and on-the-go. The Live! Entertainment Suite is meant to be a collection of services and applications, designed to enhance the PC experience.

Live! PCs that are powered by Athlon 64 x 2 dual-core processors will enable consumers to stream music through their entertainment center; view and share photos on the TV; burn recorded TV shows, videos, music, and pictures to DVDs/CDs; and transfer content to notebooks, MP3, portable media players, plus personal digital assistants.

The Live! Entertainment Suite will offer AMD solutions such as Live! On Demand powered by Orb Networks, which is a service streaming live or pre-recorded television programs, photos, music, and movies to common web-connected devices; Live! Compress which is a tool optimizing recorded television content in order to save space and time; Live! Network Magic which is a service allowing users to set up, manage, and secure their home network; Live! LogMeIn which is a service providing users the ability to remotely control their Live! PCs; and Live! Media Vault which is a service automatically backing up users' digital content to a secure online server.

Bob Brewer, corporate vice president - desktop business, AMD, said, "The AMD Live! PC and Live! Entertainment Suite represents the culmination of industry-leading companies, collaborating around open standards to deliver compelling entertainment solutions. With the Live! PC, AMD begins delivering on its vision of merging broadcast TV content with interactive, personalized, broadband applications and services, without disrupting devices that are already accepted and used by consumers today."

Joe Menard, corporate vice president - consumer business segment, AMD, said, "Our vision for AMD Live! is to apply the power and flexibility of AMD64 processors in ways that help consumers to get a richer entertainment experience, whenever and wherever they want, using their favorite entertainment components and devices."

As a special offer to promote its Live! Experience, AMD is offering both registered and activated Live! PC users 25GB of free storage.
