Microsoft has released its "Wireless Laser Desktop for Mac," the company's first Mac-specific desktop, complete with a stylish wireless Comfort Curve Keyboard and a wireless high-definition (HD) laser mouse.

With this new desktop set, Microsoft says it has combined comfortable design with high-definition technology to deliver cutting-edge performance, luxury, and style to any Mac user.

It is learnt that the Comfort Curve, the only keyboard that Microsoft produces without its Windows start button, works with the newly-launched Intel-based Macs and PowerPC models, and will feature "Hot Keys" to link to specific Mac programs like iTunes and iPhoto.

In addition to Hot Keys, the keyboard also includes five "Favorite Keys" that can be programmed to link to users favorite Web locales or file folders. The keyboard is uniquely shaped to encourage natural hand and wrist positioning, with a built-in cushion palm-rest.

The other component of the set, the HD mouse, has a matching silver color, and contains Microsoft's Intelligent Tracking System that the company claims makes for smoother movement with minimal slippage. The mouse also features a Tilt Wheel for simplified viewing of large documents or spreadsheets.

Announcing the products, Scott Erickson, director - product management and marketing, Macintosh Business Unit, Microsoft, said that they are excited to see their colleagues on the Microsoft Hardware team provide this Mac-only keyboard and mouse to strengthen Microsoft's lineup of products for Mac users, which includes their productivity suite and Office 2004 for Mac.

The Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop for Mac will be available from late July, for an estimated retail price of $99.95.
