MSN India has announced online voting on its portal for the sixth annual International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards.
In keeping with its tradition of promoting movies and music - identified as the two key drivers of Internet traffic in the country, MSN India has announced online voting on its portal for the sixth annual International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, scheduled to be held in Dubai on June 16, 2006.
Needless to say, the IIFA Awards carry the ultimate "prestigious" tag within the Hindi film industry, and as industry watchers would say - are synonymous with recognition of the best talent in Bollywood on a yearly basis.
An industry panel of experts arrives at the nominees within each category. Subsequently, avid movie goers from within the country and abroad are invited to vote online to decide upon the winners. MSN India is exclusively hosting online voting for fans, so as to offer them a platform to vote for their favorite performers of the year gone by on www.msn.co.in.
At last year's IIFA Awards held in Amsterdam, "Veer Zaara" stood out the winner in the "best picture" category, while Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherji were adjudged Best Actor and Best Actress respectively.
MSN maintains that the selection will be as exciting this year as well, and has thrown open online voting for fans to log on and choose their favorite movies and stars. The last date for voting is June 1, 2006.
Speaking at the occasion, Jaspreet Bindra, country manager - MSN India, said, "MSN India has been a key driver of online entertainment. Our association with movies has captured an immense amount of mind share among our users. We are glad to support IIFA in promoting Indian cinema globally. We are also excited to offer for the fifth time in a row, our online audience the power to communicate their choice and preferences across a global platform."
Adding to this, Krishna Prasad, head - programming, MSN India, said, "MSN India has always been synonymous with providing and supporting quality entertainment. MSN India as the official website for the IIFA Awards, provides a great platform for fans worldwide to vote for their favourite Bollywood film and film stars."
