Opera Software has released Opera Mini 2.0, the latest version of its Web browser that works on a variety of mobile phones. Opera says Opera Mini has accumulated over 2.5 million users ever since its first release in January 2006.
Opera Mini 2.0 promises to be an improvement over the earlier version in allowing mobile phone users to download images, MP3s, and Web content directly onto their phones.
The new Mini supports direct browser-to-SMS mobile commerce, wherein users can click directly on the Web site to purchase games, ring-tones, etc that would be then delivered as an SMS. Users are charged for the downloaded content as part of their mobile phone bills.
Also, operators, broadcasters, mobile content providers, etc, would find the latest Mini useful since it is available as a customized browser for them to reach-out to their vast audience.
Opera Mini 2.0 incorporates new features such as direct content download; choice of several new skins to personalize the Web browser, multi-search wherein users can select extra search engines for the home page, speed dial, and visual navigation.
Jon S Von Tetzchner, chief executive officer, Opera Software, said, "Opera Mini has kick-started real mobile Web browsing by enabling non smart-phone owners to surf the full Internet on their phones, just as they do on their PCs. Opera Mini 2.0 adds a more personal aspect to mobile Web browsing. Whether you want to change the way the browser looks to suit your mood, download today's most popular song, or even check movie times and book tickets, Opera Mini 2.0 is the mobile browser designed for the way you live your life."
To avail of the all new Mini, users can direct their mobile phones' WAP browsers to http://mini.opera.com. As of now, Mini 2.0 is available in languages including English, German, Spanish, French, Russian, Polish, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, and Finnish.

atlast the opera mini can save images. Even if we did not have the previlege of doing so in the earlier versions, the browser was awesome, as it brought half of my office in my SE 750i..
I have a se k300i with a hutch connection... and opera mini refuses to work on it. It can never detect an internet connection. Wonder if any of you guys could get it to work.
opera is not working because your internal browser is opened at the same time with opera mini. same problem i have with k300i and gprs connection. opera mini worked when my internet settings were for wap by dial-up to a short number. after i installed gprs settings not worked anymore. maybe they will fix this up on next release of opera mini
