Yahoo! has launched a new section, "Yahoo! Tech" to help consumers deal with a sprint of new technologies useful in giving a make-over to today's lifestyles. The new section is also intended as the new Yahoo! technique to attract online advertisers; interestingly the company has already signed up with some of the big names like HP, Panasonic and Verizon.

The new section includes products like digital cameras, laptops, mp3 players, cell phones, etc. It also includes reviews and product recommendations from established media brands.

The company is aiming at providing information in a simple format so that even a common man, not from the technical background can get the clear picture. Patrick Houston, general manager, Yahoo! Tech, said that they want to free people from the tyranny of "geekspeak".

Primarily, the user-generated content will come from Yahoo!'s shopping site, which has about 300,000 tech products - each accompanied by several user reviews, and Yahoo! Answers that the company hopes will fuel a debate on Yahoo! Tech.

Along with information from around-the-Web, Yahoo! has hired four high-tech advisers catering to different sections of the audience. They are given titles like "The Working Guy" who will be Christopher Null, founder of Mobile PC Magazine advising on office gear; "The Mom" who will be Dory Devline, a freelance journalist; "The Boomer" who will be Robin Raskin, a columnist from USA Today; and lastly "Techie Diva" who will be Gina Hughes, and will focus on trendy gadgets.

These advisers will share their knowledge and understanding of daily updates. Yahoo! Tech will also have a weekly segment called "Hook Me Up" hosted by Becky Worley, who has written on technology for CNN and ABC.

With the launch of its new section, Yahoo! is looking forward to grab major advertising revenue from the industry in coming years.
