Hi, I would like to buy this product. Can u pls let me know where I can buy this?
Featuring AirTunes for playing your iTunes music wirelessly on your home stereo or powered speakers, AirPort Express brings not only the Internet but your music to wherever in your home you like to enjoy them most
Now let me get this straight,
1. The mac now runs on Intel platform, which makes it more or less similar to the other PCs on the market.
2. The configuration, Processor speed, memory , HDD are not great shakes either Compared to a contemporary Intel Platform
3. Runs on Mac Tiger with all the basic stuff thrown in.
4. i gotta pay nearly 80k for what normally will set me back by what 30k for the box and a 20quid if i buy most of the software?
man.. Apple's gotta be kidding itself.. Wakeup bozos. we in India may be simpletons, but we are not idiots.
First of all, products from Apple/Sony are definitely NOT for the people like you who compare prices foolishly! If that's the case, we should stick to old Maruti Esteem, why to buy a Toyota (considering your argument about similar features).
Don't just simply comment without understanding the man behind Apple, Steve Jobs. He said, Apple is NOT for everyone...I do take pride for that (my parents firms in Hyderabad are running more than 2 dozens of Apple machines with Mac hardware)
I think you're right James. I don't get what Apple is charging that price for. It certainly is no toyota Sunil...and just because you have Macs in your office doesn't mean we should all go out and shell out 1L to buy a Mac. There is very little they offer in terms of hardware other than good design to justify that price tag. And software...well apple may have a few goodies but you definitely can download virtually any software from the net that works fine on an IBM PC clone. Folks..do yourselves a favor, ignore such products. Apple clearly has to rethink it's strategy if they want to compete in the common market. It's clear that they're trying to appeal to a niche buyer who can show of his PC to an 8 yr old or who wants to think he's different. But then again, not all niche buyers are suckers for looks. Some tend to look under the hood too.
I have to add, the very reason it seems that Apple has adopted the Intel platform is to avoid compatibility and interoperability issues that have dogged Apple users for generations. The thing that some migh find good about Apple is that their users were not presented with the bewildering range of software options that are out there for IBM PC clone users thus making their lives more simpler and task oriented. I don't know where Apple has positioned itself now with this new direction.
I realise that this is India, but out beloved Apple Corner in Panaji got their Intel iMac early in february this year. Also, the 1 GB nano came in a record 11 days from release...
Furthermore Microsoft OS, Linux, and Mac OS now have the chance of running natively for the first time on a platform since Mac Intel's have been debuted. The only curtailing issue is now Rosetta.
But the big question is when will Apple migrate from using Rosetta software, which runs their Intel Chips. Only then will the true performance of these Intel-based Macs be realized. Let us have real-time performance.
