Apple has announced availability of its 1GB iPod nano, sporting the same features as the 2GB and 4GB models.
Apple Computer has announced the availability of its 1GB iPod nano, which sports the same features as the 2GB and 4GB iPod nano models while bearing the capacity to hold up to 240 songs or 15,000 photos.
In another announcement, the company has cut down prices of its iPod Shuffle - both the 512MB and 1GB models.
Thinner than a number two pencil, Apple's ultra-portable 1GB iPod nano features a stunning, high-resolution color screen, plus Apple's patent pending Click Wheel.
Apple's 1GB iPod nano incorporates the company's patent pending Auto-Sync technology which automatically downloads a user's digital music collection, photos or Podcasts onto the nano and keeps the same updated when the nano is plugged into a Mac or Windows computer using USB 2.0.
Like the iPod, the iPod nano features a 30-pin dock connector and promises to work in-sync with over 2,000 accessories developed for the iPod.
For the 1GB iPod nano, music capacity is based on four minutes per song and 128 Kbps AAC encoding, while photo capacity is based on iPod-viewable photos transferred from iTunes.
Greg Joswiak, vice president - worldwide iPod product marketing, said, Now everyone can afford an iPod nano, with our new 1GB model starting at just Rs 9,700. The iPod is the world s most popular digital music player with over 40 million iPods sold, and now even more music lovers can experience the unrivalled combination of iPod and iTunes."
Available in two colors - white and black, the iPod nano for Mac or Windows is immediately available across the country through Apple Authorized Resellers for a maximum retail price of Rs 9,700.
All iPod nano models come with earbud headphones, a USB 2.0 cable, a case and a CD with iTunes for Mac and Windows computers. An iPod nano requires either a Mac with a USB 2.0 port and Mac OS X version 10.3.4 (or later) and iTunes 4.9 (or later); or a Windows PC with a USB 2.0 port and Windows 2000 (SP4), XP Home or Professional (SP2) and iTunes 4.9 (or later).
Further - Apple's iPod shuffle will now be available for only Rs 4,600 for the 512MB model, and Rs 6,500 for the 1GB model.

I have an apple Shuffle. IT is not working now. Do not know what happened. Nothing at all. What to do now? I am leaving in Mumbai. Do not know whom to contact regarding this. Please advice
hey, I use both nano & shuffle. Wud say nano is anytime better than shuffle. They are two different breeds of personal mp3 players and in fact the comparison does not make sense in many ways. Shuffle does not have display, no folder - or album in ipod language, a light indicator for literally all - battery level, play/pause, hold on or off...wud really advise u to go for nano - that is of course if u r willing to shell out more money.....
i just bought a new ipod, and my friend told me that there is a rumor that apple is coming out with a new ipod that has a small screen for video, no click wheel (a "touch screen" instead) that will be released or introduced next month....is this at all true? or have you even heard this rumor??
2gb nano is already there at 9k what exactly are they saying with 9700 /- "now every one can get an ipod" ,there is the shuffle for that and any way 9700 is by no means cheap ,the ipod is not costly to make with flash nand memory being used and also 1gb at 9k is too unbearably costly 2gb actually makes sense as u can get a 1gb card for ur cellphone at 4k and there are phones with astonishing sound quality what say guys?
do you know the 'street price' of macbook pro ?
