Spice Telecom, Karnataka's very own service provider, has launched exclusive rental plans for BPO employees.
The plan offers special call rates for BPO employees who work late, and allows them to stay connected with their family for long hours at very low costs. Subscribers on this offer can make calls at 5 paise to Spice mobiles, at 50 paise to other GSM/CDMA mobile phones, Rs 1.30 to Land Lines, and send local and national SMS at 10 paise from 10 pm to 6 am.
From 6 am to 10 pm, the call charges stand at 40 paise to Spice subscribers, calls to GSM/CDMA mobile phones are charged at Rs 1, and calls to landline numbers would cost Rs 1.69. Local SMS would cost Re 1, national SMS Rs 2 and international SMS Rs 5. The STD rates for mobile to mobile would be Rs 2.50, and mobile to landlines Rs 2.65.
To avail of this plan, Spice subscribers would have to pay a deposit of Rs 300 and an activation charge of Rs 99.
Navin Kaul, chief operation officer, Spice Telecom, Karnataka, said, "The mishaps in the city among the BPO and call center employees, especially the latest case has left a scar in all our hearts and as the local mobile telecom service providers of Karnataka, we felt it is our duty to address this issue with a whole new approach."
"With this plan we wish to make life secure and communication easy for employees working in the nights. The employee gets to make an out-going call at a minimum amount of just 5 paise to spice mobiles, this is keeping in mind that if the travel time of an employee, (specially ladies) from home to office is one hour, she/he can call one person and keep talking till she/he reaches the office safely, and all that the person will be charged is Rs 3. This will strategize more of such plans in the coming months, and we expect to help our subscribers in some way or the other," Kaul said.
Customers can also call any STD number at Rs 1.99 per minute, for a monthly rental of just Rs 25. This is the first-of-its-kind tariff plan to be launched by any service provider in the country.

Rubbish. What connection is there between the cost of the call and an emergency? And do you think that someone is going to ponder whether to contact a Spice number / an airtel/hutch/landline in case of an emergency to save 45 ps?????
Launch an offer, but dont tie it to a tragedy.
What nonsense? I suppose u do not know how important it is to be in contact with the women who work in the night. I spend at least Rs 2000 a month talking to my fianc?e every night from office to home. She logs in by 6.30 so no worry while she goes to office, but while getting back i make sure she is speaking to me till she enters her PG. This is an amazing offer, if someone has been sensitive to the tragedy that has happened and has done something to prevent more mishaps i feel we should appreciate the move. Good going Spice.
What Ever!!! Something is better than nothing ----people like use it !! do not like throw it ---then what is the fuss about --o --1--0aaaa -ammma now leave it and Njoi
I recently took a Spice Youth Connection, as my x girlfriend also had a spice. The offer was great, Spice to Spice 10 paise. Wow.. Then my x gf moved her house to bangalore(sultan palya - RT nagar) . Hmm.. guess what.. Im getting charged 60 paise per minute because of call drops every second. I called spice CS.. which was polite and friendly like Hutch.. and launched a complain.. got a call back from an engineer and he said they are coming up with a new tower by april. but I didn't have to wait till april. We broke up.. sad but shez good.
Yes i agree with veena do you work in a BPO. Well then you know how we suffer when we cannot call our people when we need to due to shortage of currency.
