Ahead has unveiled the much anticipated Nero Burning ROM 7 Premium Edition. This version of Nero is not just a CD/DVD burning software, but an ultimate all-in-one integrated digital media and home entertainment software solution.

Nero 7 now delivers 18 applications in one powerful suite, including the addition of Nero Home, a new TV and PC multimedia management and distribution system that provides users with quick and easy access to all digital media files from the comfort of their living rooms using a remote control. In addition, it includes a number of enhancements and interface redesigns. Users now have the option of customized installation as well. Let's find out more about the key applications included in this suite.

Nero Burning ROM - CD/DVD Recording

Nero Burning ROM and Nero Express, the widely used optical burning software, now comes with the most powerful burning engine with this new version. This feature has been redesigned to bring in ease of use, efficiency and speed as well. It is a powerful burning solution for data, music files or videos onto a CD or DVD. The integrated Nero Scout technology further provides fast access to all media files including advanced keyword search options. Nero 7 also supports new media such as DVD-R DL (dual layer), in addition to DVD+R DL and LightScribe media. It also comes with a more modern Office 2003-like blue theme that integrates well with the Windows Luna Blue theme. All icons are higher quality, and though menus and dialog boxes are more or less the same, have been fine tuned a bit. As far as the tests were concerned, we burned data on Moser Baer CDs and DVD including the rewritables and ran into no errors in any of those during the burn process. In fact, I personally find this version more stable and reliable over the previous ones.

Nero Scout - Integrated Search

Nero scout is a newly integrated search feature to this suite. Its unique optimized media database provides instant access to the user's library of media files of all types from any Nero application and Windows Explorer. Nero scout searches, organizes and supports play back of any media file with its ready and easily available database which works on a concept similar to AvaFind. Nero scout keeps a constant track of and monitors any changes or addition of files and updates the information to its database on the fly.

Nero Home - Personal Movie Studio

Nero Home is a new and innovative media manager that provides fast access to the user's entire digital media library via remote control in the designated home entertainment room. The contents can be viewed on any regular TV. Nero Home integrates TV time-shifting, DVD playback, music playback and video playback, and has a simplified interface along with a TV wizard to walk users through a simple setup. The advanced search option, complete multiple tasks concurrently, new skin, text input using a virtual keyboard, on screen display and 3D visualizations are the further highlights to this component. Nero home lets you experience the digital media in new ways and is your personal movie studio - a complete digital home entertainment solution.
